Recent cases of sexual exploitation in Madrasa

It is to be noted that this is not the first time that a case of sexual exploitation has surfaced from a Madarsa in Bihar, and Organiser has reported such instances in the past as well. Earlier, in a similar case reported from Motihari, a minor girl had accused a cleric of sexually harassing her in the Kathan Government Madrasa under the Mehsi police station of East Champaran.

According to the reports, the minor victim, in her complaint to the police, had informed that the cleric Jamshed Alam had stopped the victim girl on the pretext of giving her homework, though Jamshed Alam later clicked some vulgar pictures with the victim and then started sexually exploiting and blackmailing her after that.

When the victim girl confronted the cleric, he threatened her to make the obscene pictures viral. However, fed up with the blackmailing, somehow, the girl mustered some courage and narrated her ordeal with her family members. Learning upon the incident when the victim’s father confronted the cleric, the latter first threatened the victim’s father and later arrived at the girl’s place with goons and threatened the family for dire consequences.

However, after initially being fearful of cleric threatening, the family finally mustered the courage and registered a complaint against the accused around one and a half years after the incident of exploitation in May this year. It was then reported that after the complaint, the cleric was found to be absconding.

In another shocking incident reported from Siwan, a video of which had also gone viral on social media, a cleric of the Andar Mosque under Andar police station of Siwan district was seen molesting a minor girl in the uniform in July this year.

It was then reported that the cleric Mohammad Massom hails from Muzaffarpur and was currently residing in the Andar Mosque, while the girl used to come to the mosque to teach Urdu to the children.

The incident came to light after a video of the obscene act of the cleric went viral on social media, following which the Siwan police registered a case against the accused and started an investigation into the matter.
