Aligarh Muslim University: Students take out protests against Israel’s retaliation to the terrorist attack by Hamas

Amidst chants of ‘Tera mera rishta kya.. la Illaha Illallah,’ the students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) took out a procession against Israel. They were protesting against the retaliatory action taken by the government against the Islamist terrorist organisation Hamas, located in the Gaza Strip.

On October 7, when the country was asleep, the terrorists entered from land, air, and water, killing hundreds of innocent people. They held them hostages, killed them, paraded them naked, and desecrated them. Following the attack, PM Netanyahu said, “Hamas will have to face unprecedented consequences”.

The same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended support to the deceased families and said, “India stands in solidarity with Israel in this terrorist attack”. Contrary to the stance of the government, the students of AMU extended their support to the terrorist organisation and a country ruled by them.

These students carried out processions against the retaliatory action taken by the Israeli government against Hamas. These students, mostly Muslims were chanting Allah-u-Akbar and slogans like tera mera rishta kya la Illaha Illallah, and carrying placards with slogans against Israel and in support of Palestine. One such placard said, ‘AMU stands with Palestine, Free Palestine; this land is Palestine, not Israel’.

According to media accounts, the rally saw participation from numerous students from the university. They chanted slogans in opposition to Israel and in support of Palestine, as well as recited Islamic phrases such as “Allah-u-Akbar” and “la ilaha illallah.” They asserted that Israel was committing atrocities against Palestine and voiced their opposition to oppression worldwide.

The fierce confrontation between the Israeli military and the Palestinian extremist group Hamas has, thus far, resulted in over 1,000 casualties and 2,200 injuries.

Since the surprise attack by Hamas on Saturday morning, over 700 individuals have lost their lives in Israel. In retaliatory actions, Israel’s counterstrikes have claimed the lives of 370 people in Palestine.

Hamas launched an extensive surprise attack against Israel, firing approximately 5,000 rockets from the Gaza Strip, marking one of the most significant assaults on Israel in recent years.

Responding to the situation, Israeli forces launched military offensives towards Gaza after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared, “We are at war, and we will win” in a video statement on Saturday. He added, “Our enemy will pay a price the type of which it has never known.”

Israel has announced ‘Operation Iron Swords’ against Hamas following the declaration of a ‘state of war’. A fierce battle is currently underway in Israel and the Gaza Strip.
