In a shocking event that unfolded in Uttar Pradesh, a 15-year-old Hindu girl was viciously assaulted with a sharp weapon by an individual identified as Shauqeen in the Modinagar area of Ghaziabad district. The brutal assault inflicted nine severe injuries on the victim, including grave wounds to her head, neck, and hands, as well as a fractured elbow.

As per reports, the perpetrator had close ties with the girl’s father and resided just across the street from their family home.

This incident occurred on the evening of October 5. The assailant attacked the girl, who was on her way home from school, with a sword multiple times. He hastily fled the scene upon noticing neighbours rushing to the girl’s aid. Some witnesses claim he even brandished the weapon after the assault.

Law enforcement promptly responded to the incident, apprehending the assailant under the applicable legal provisions. “The enraged onlookers confronted the assailant for his deadly assault on the victim. The police swiftly arrived and took him into custody,” stated one of the officers.

He further mentioned that the perpetrator attempted to escape while being escorted for a medical examination, but was apprehended. “Seizing an opportunity, he tried to assault the police officers with their own service weapon during the medical examination. He discharged rounds at the officers. In response, the Modinagar Police also fired, targeting his leg, and successfully apprehended him. Currently, he has been admitted to the hospital and is receiving treatment,” the police provided in their statement.

A neighbour who witnessed the incident remarked that the accused had a close association with the victim girl’s father. “They reside nearby and share a friendly rapport. Today, the girl is suffering. The perpetrator must face severe consequences. He ought to face capital punishment for his heinous attack on the innocent girl. He has utterly shattered her life,” expressed Bheem Singh.

Meanwhile, a woman named Rajbala revealed that the accused frequently dined at the victim’s home. “They (the accused and the victim’s father) shared a strong bond. Over the past two years, the accused regularly shared meals at their residence. Sometimes, the girl herself served him. She regarded him as a brother and even tied a Rakhi on his wrist during Rakshabandhan. However, this incident reveals the accused’s animosity towards the girl,” she added.

The victim’s father also weighed in on the matter, stating that the accused opposed the girl’s attendance at school and pressured her to switch schools. “Shauqeen insisted on the girl changing her school. A few days ago, a girl from her school eloped with her boyfriend. So, he wanted our daughter to change schools. This led to a minor altercation between us. He also pressured us to change her tuition. He subjected her to torment and never left her in peace,” he further explained.

Numerous local Hindu organisations have taken notice of the incident and offered support to the victim’s family. They are advocating for stringent punishment for the accused.

As of now, the motive behind the attack remains unclear. The police have apprehended the accused and charged him under relevant legal provisions. The girl, meanwhile, has sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Further inquiries into the case are in progress.
