Once again, a Hindu woman became a victim of a fake love trap for Islamic conversion. In Bihar’s Purnia district, an 18-year-old Dalit woman has given a complaint to the police, stating she was lured into fake love by Ishaq. They eloped and had a court marriage; after marriage, he made her recite ‘Kalma’, changed her name and now left saying “I am a father of two”.

The police teams are still tracking the culprit, who is constantly changing locations.

On September 16, the victim, identified as Suman Kumari, gave a complaint letter to the police, stating Ishaq lured her to conversion and left after that.

In a First Information Report (number—788/2023), Suman told the police that her father and Ishaq’s father used to work together. Due to work, Ishaq used to visit their house regularly, slowly on the pretext of marriage he managed to lure her into a relationship. They eloped together almost a month ago and had a court marriage.

After the court marriage, Ishaq made Suman recite Kalma and become a Muslim. After converting to Islam, they returned to the village. Now, Ishaq has left her saying he is already married and a father of two. He will not keep her and if she dares to tell this to anyone, to anyone she can get killed.

The victim is a native of Satdobh colony of the Mufassil police station area, whereas the accused is a resident of ward number 43, Lowaghat.

After elopement, the accused and the victim stayed together for almost ten days. During this period, Ishaq got Sonam converted and changed her name to Sayara Khatun. He also impregnated her before elopement.

Based on her complaint, the police have booked the accused under IPC sections 366 (inducing woman to compel her marriage), 420 (cheating), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 504 (intentionally insult), 506 (criminal intimidation), and sections 3(i)(r)(5) of the Prevention of Atrocities Act commonly called as the SC-ST Act.

Organiser called the police station in charge, Mufassil Thana Purnia, Ramesh Paswan on September 20. He said the accused is yet to be arrested and they are tracking the CDR details, as per the latest update, he is somewhere around Bhagalpur. He is constantly changing his location and will soon be nabbed.

He added, both the accused and the victim live almost in the same colony and prima facie, the victim knew that the accused was already married.

It has been reported that Ishaq had been blackmailing Suman against her nude pictures and after impregnating Suman, he started pressuring her family members for marriage. After the court marriage, he converted her, changed her name and even aborted the child. After doing all of this he returned back and left Sonam.
