In yet another case of fake identity trap, a Hindu woman registered a complaint against one Daud Ibrahim, who posed as Rahul Gupta to marry her. The truth came out, two years after their marriage and the birth of their daughter. Based on the victim’s complaint, the police have registered an FIR (First Information Report) in this case.

The victim, a native of the Akhbarpur police station area of the Ambedkar Nagar district, accused Ibrahim of trapping her under false promises and now forcing her to convert. The accused runs a ‘Kabadi shop’ in the Mirzapur Kodra village of the district.

The victim alleged that, almost three years ago, she came in contact with him. He introduced himself as Rahul Gupta and later they developed a romantic relationship. Within a year, they got married as per Hindu rituals and started living with each other. Soon she turned pregnant and gave birth to a daughter who is nearly two years of age.

After the marriage, the duo had been living at a rented place and the family members of the accused never visited them.

How the victim find the truth?

In November 2023, the accused started behaving strange and took her to his parental house in Mirzapur Kondara. As soon as the victim reached his house she learned that the house belonged to a Muslim family and that Rahul was not a Hindu.

His family members called him Daud, and his name was Daud Ibrahim. After learning about their marriage and daughter his family members started pressuring them to have a ‘Nikah’ and asked the woman to convert.

With the delay in Nikah, the family started pressing the woman to follow Islamic customs like offering Namaz, wearing a Hijab and more. When she refused to do so, they beat her up.

Fed up with the torture, the woman somehow managed to escape the house and reach the police for help.

Based on the complaint the police registered an FIR in this case.

What said the police?

Speaking with Organiser, the Station House Officer, Malipur, Prem Chandra said, an FIR has been registered in this case at the Akbarpur police station.

He added, that the family of the woman married her to a Hindu man but leaving him she eloped with the accused and had a marriage as per Hindu rituals. She lived with him for two years and now saying that he is a Muslim and that his family is forcing her to convert.

Based on her complaint, an FIR has been registered at the Akbarpur police station. Organiser tried calling the police but the calls went unanswered. Organiser will update this report with the information about the arrest of the accused.

A similar case reported in Unnao

A pregnant woman from the Hasanganj police station area registered a complaint against a Muslim man for hiding his identity, marrying her at a temple and later leaving her after she gave birth to two children. She was accompanied by the members of Hindu Jagran Manch as they all demanded a case to be registered against the man under the sections of the Uttar Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act.

The 27-year-old victim shared her plight with the media and said, she used to work as a house help in the Dubbaga area of the town in 2019. Then she came in contact with a man, a native of the Maulabankipur area. He posed as a Hindu man and then they got married to each other in a temple.

Soon she gave birth to two children a son (1.5 year old) and a daughter (3 year old) and she is again pregnant with a three month baby. As of now the police teams are investigating the matter, based on the findings the complaint will be registered against the accused.
