Women are making their mark in every walk of life; from driving a train to riding a plane, they have done it all. Taking inspiration from the glorious journey of women, the Sangha Sewa Prakalp, Sewa Bharti, has started providing driving lessons to women in Delhi. Under their prestigious, ‘Saksham: Drive with Pride’ scheme, they will be making women Atmnirbhar and teaching them how to drive a light motor vehicle (LMV).

LMV refers to vehicles like auto-rickshaws, motor cars, vans, and others.

On September 1, the training scheme was launched in Delhi’s Kamla Market area with the help of volunteers from Sewa Bharti and the workers at the police department. The workshop will be conducted at the Kalma Market police station. This sewa prakalp has been wholly dedicated to the women willing to earn and become Atmnirbhar.

Notably, the women undertaking the training sessions will be provided with both theoretical as well as practical lessons. Apart from the training, the women will also be provided with driving licenses.

Interestingly, these women will also be linked with transport service-providing companies in Delhi. These women will be trained to drive both commercial as well as passenger vehicles.

For the first slot at the workshop, the Sewa Bharti had as many as 60 female applicants and their training started on September 1. The duration of this training programme is three months.

Notably, the women participants at the workshop applauded the Delhi police for this human approach. They said, “We have known the Delhi Police for dealing with crimes and security of the city but their human face makes us all proud. The officers of Delhi Police are indeed the heart of the city”.

On the other hand, praising the Sewa Bharti’s selfless efforts, women said, their initiative will not only provide them with better job opportunities but will also bag them respect in the society. This training will bring about a positive change in their lives.

Readers must know that last month Organiser visited one such Sewa Prakalp run by Sewa Bharti and Vidya Bharti in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal. In this prakalp, the organisation has been shaping the future of younger generations by providing them ‘Gurukul-style’ education. With self-help groups, women are employed, with handicraft promotion, lost bamboo crafts are revived, with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, people are shifting towards organic farming. There are farms, gaushala and much more.

The sewa prakalp (Bankhedi) located in the heart of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal, is making the village an ideal example of ‘Adarsh Gram’. All the activities going on in the village except for the KVK are being managed by the people of the village under the supervision of Sangh Karyakarta’s.

Readers can go through the ground report about this prakalp here.
