The Tata Group has once again shown how its engineering is not limited to making cars, tea, or chemicals alone. The Global industrial giant respected for its ethical approach to business has made India proud yet again as PTI now reports that the Electric Overhead Traveling or EOT crane used in the launch of Chandrayaan-3 was manufactured in Tata Growth Shop in Jamshedpur.

According to a report by PTI, Tata Steel has manufactured the crane used for the successful launch of the LVM3-M4 rocket, dubbed as ‘Fat Boy’, in the Chandrayaan-3 mission. The rocket was launched from Sriharikota on July 14.

Tata Steel also tweeted from its Twitter account. The tweet reads: “Congratulations @isro on the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3! It’s a matter of pride for us that the crane supplied by Tata Growth Shop played a crucial role in assembling the launch vehicle LVM3 M4 (Fatboy) at the Satish Dhawan Space Center.”

The Tata Steel authorities reportedly told PTI that, “Our cutting-edge crane technology played a crucial role… We supplied the Electric Overhead Traveling (EOT) crane which was installed at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.””Through our contribution to the launch… we reaffirm our commitment to fostering India’s technological advancement and growth,” the company stated.Tata Steel Growth Shop (TGS). It is a division of Tata Steel Ltd. It specializes in designing and manufacturing Plants and Equipment in India. It is spread over more than 350 acres of land at Gamharia, Jamshedpur. TGS specializes in products like steel plant equipment, diesel locomotive parts, and hydro, and thermal power plant equipment.Tata Steel Limited, with a consolidated turnover of US $32,836 million for FY22 is the 10th largest steel producer in the world with an annual crude steel production capacity of 34 MnTPA.

Tata Grpup has been at forefront of India’s Industrial Growth since pre-indepence era 

The Tata Group has spearheaded the industrial growth story of India since its pre-Independence days. Established in Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) in 1907, the Company took shape from the vision of its founder Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata and is today one of the world’s most geographically diversified steel producers with operations and commercial presence across the world. Tata Steel has an employee strength of more than 65,000 and is present on five continents.According to the website of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2 to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface. It consists of Lander and Rover configurations.

Chandrayaan-3 was launched by LVM3 from SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota on July 14th 2023.
