A video of woman wearing a Hijab and carrying a child in hand, thanking the Yogi government for their prompt action is getting viral. She further added in the video, “Thank you for saving the life of this daughter Yogi Ji”. The woman is identified as, Gulfasha Begum wife of Amir Ali.
Amir Ali is a resident of Moradabad and he recently presented an affidavit at the collector’s office stating, he wishes to change his name to Amit Maheswari. Turns out, Amir is a married man and has a three-month-old daughter. His wife Gulfasha claims, “Amir hates Hindu people and is doing all of this to get rid of threats from his Hindu girlfriend”.
The copy of the application and the affidavit presented by Amir shows, he is the son of Arif Ali and lives in the Prince colony of Mughalpura area. Amir added, he believes in Hindu Dharma and wants to embrace it willfully without any pressure. He wants to change his name to Amit Maheswari and leave Islam. The application was presented on June 28 and as per the details, Amir is 30 years old. The receiving seal on the letter suggests the copy was accepted on, July 3.
Notably, Amir’s wife Gulfasha, was unaware of these advances in his life and she found out about everything, this week only. As soon as she learned the reason, she left Amir’s house and has been demanding action against him from the Uttar Pradesh police.
She shared a video saying, “Ek beti ka ghar bachane ke lie dusri ka ghar mat ujadiye Yogi Ji. Apni beti ko nyaya dilaiye”. (To save the house of one daughter, please don’t ignore the plight of another, Save your daughter’s house Yogi Ji)
On July 12, First Information Report (number–147/2023) was registered at Mughalpura police station against Amir Ali by Gulfasha.
In the FIR, Gulfasha told the police that, on February 20, 2022, she got married to Amir Ali, as per Islamic rituals with the permission of both families. Soon after the marriage, Amir’s family and his relatives started torturing her, regarding dowry and asked her to sell the house she received at the wedding from her father.
Meanwhile, she became pregnant and the whole family, including Amir, wanted her to terminate the pregnancy. They gave her medicines, but she managed to continue with it. After she gave birth to a girl child, the behaviour of the family members turned even sour.
Gulfasha found, her husband used to talk to someone regularly. Upon checking his mobile, she found, he was talking to a Hindu woman, named Neha Maheswari (name changed, surname retained). They both were planning to kick Gulfasha and her daughter out of their lives.
Amir and Neha were having an affair since 2014, and they had even been in a live-in relationship. She tried convincing Amir, to leave Neha but he was adamant and said, he will do another marriage. When she told this to his parents, they said, men are like this only.
Gulfasha managed to return to her parent’s house, so as to protect her daughter, from any bad and then she learned about the conversion application.
Other than Amir, Gulfasha named her father-in-law Arif Ali, mother-in-law Hamida Bi, sister-in-law Lubna Parveen, brother-in-law Asif Ali, brother-in-law Imran Ali and his wife Uzma Parveen in the FIR.
All of them have been booked under sections 498-A (subjecting a woman to cruelty), 420 (cheating), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult) of the IPC with sections 3 and 4 of the Prohibition of Dowry Act, 1961.
Other than the abuse and the cheating, Gulfasha told the media that, in his letter to the DM, Amir said he wishes to become Amit Maheshwari because he believes in Hindu Dharma. He is lying again, “Amir Hates Hindu people, he does not even buy stuff from their shops and if he does, he never eats them, how can he choose to become a Hindu, all of a sudden? it’s all a trap!”
She said Amir is doing drama.
She added, “He is misusing the conversion act to get rid of the threats he has been receiving from his Hindu girlfriend for the past few months. He is stuck between two women, if he leaves me, he will face a case, if he leaves her, she too will file a case against him. And her case will be stronger than mine. So, Amir has smartly found a mid-way and this is why he is converting. He is not doing this out of his belief in Sanatan Dharma”.
Neha was pursuing her B.Tech, from a college in Moradabad and there, she came in touch with Amir. They both became friends and lovers. Currently, she is working at a company in Noida, while Amir works at a private firm in Ghaziabad.
Notably, after the application presented by Amir with his mobile number on, went viral on social media, a constable was deployed outside his house. The number mentioned in the application, went unanswered when Organiser tried calling him.
Gulfasha is also not taking the calls, Organiser will update this story as soon as we get in touch with any of them.
This correspondent, called the Station House Officer, Mughalpurra Thana on July 14, but the officer refused to share any details related to the case. He said, “Madam, we have social media handles for our respective police stations in the state and any update in the case, will be made available on the platform itself. I cannot give you any detail, as of now”.
