Saudi leader praises Indian democracy,salutes its philosophy, traditions; Says Muslims are proud of Indian Constitution

Secretary General of Muslim World League Mohammad Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa minced no words in heaping praise on India and added that he wants to salute Indian democracy from the bottom of his heart.

At a time when leaders like Rahul Gandhi go abroad and denounce Indian democracy and spread false narrative about the minorities being not safe in India, Mohammad Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa noted in his address, “I salute Indian democracy from the bottom of my heart.”

Time and again, India’s opposition leader have trained guns at Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government over its anti-Muslim policies.

While addressing the gathering at the “Dialogue for Harmony among Religions,” an event organised in collaboration with Global Foundation for Civilisational Harmony (India), Sheikh Mohammad Bin said, “I salute Indian democracy from the bottom of my heart. I salute the Constitution of India. I salute the Indian philosophy and tradition that taught harmony to the world.”

World Muslim league chief says India can send message of peace to world

Al- Issa who is also Saudi Arabia’s former Minister for Justice and is considered as a prominent voice on moderate Islam that India with its diversity, is “a great model for coexistence” and that the country can send a message of peace to the world.

Some of the Indian leaders and politicians are spreading false news that the Muslims in India are being victimised and that the Indian constitution does not protect the rights of the Muslims.

Al-Issa’a statement acquires significance in wake of the row over UCC in India

The visit of Dr Mohammad Bin Abdulkarim al-Issa, Secretary-General of the World Muslim League came at a time when debate is being raged in India with regards to the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Al-Issa cleared the air about the views about the Indian Muslims and stated that the latter were proud of the Indian constitution. It is at this time that the statement made by Al-Issa is of importance.

He said, in an address at an event at the India Islamic Cultural Centre in the national capital organised by the Khusro Foundation that “We have talked just moments ago about the different components in Indian society and we have been engaging with them in the past few days. And I know that the Muslim component of the Indian society, they are, as I said, proud of their Constitution and proud of their nation and they are proud of the brotherhood that they share with the rest of the components of the Indian society.”

Al-Issa lauded the Indian wisdom and said “We know that here coexistence is very important… we also work on promoting stability and harmony all over the world. We know that the Indian component, with all its diversity, is a great model for coexistence not only in mere words but also on the ground.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks H.E. Sheikh Dr Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa on furthering inter-faith dialogue, countering extremist ideologies, promoting global peace, and deepening the partnership between India and Saudi Arabia.

Dr Al Issa  said that “Unlike certain organisations, Indian institutions and leaders I met talked about peace, tolerance and understanding rather than asserting their dominance.”
