Yet another case of ‘Love Jihad’ has been reported from the Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh this week. The video statement of the victim, telling how she was sold off by the accused and family to a brothel in Nepal is making rounds on the internet.
Other than this, the girl, who just turned 18 was repeatedly raped by a gang of men. The prime accused in this case has been identified as Aman Khan, a resident of the Hata locality.
Notably, the minor went missing on July 1 after she went out to buy chips. The same day, her parents registered a complaint of abduction against Aman Khan claiming, he had previously threatened their daughter and is responsible for her kidnapping.
Following this complaint, A First Information Report (number–407/2023) was registered at the Hata police station of the Kushinagar district on July 1. The complainant was the victim’s mother Neelam Mishra.
On July 9, the Kushinagar police shared an official statement from their Twitter account where officer Ritesh Kumar said, a girl who went missing on July 1 was recovered safely on July 4 and the accused Aman was arrested on July 8 and presented before the court.
Organiser called the Hata police station on July 10 and the Station House Officer, Nirbhay Singh said, other than Aman Khan they have arrested two other accused namely, Ashutosh Verma and Shivam Mishra. The victim recorded her statement under section 164 of the CrPC on July 6 and the court handed her to their family members.
Following her statement the FIR which was earlier registered under section IPC 363 (Kidnapping) and 506 (criminal intimidation) additionally had the following sections as well; 376 (rape), 376-D (Gang rape) and section 3/ 5 of the Uttar Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act.
The video statement of the victim in circulation states that, she was forcefully abducted by the accused Aman Khan and sold off to a brothel in Nepal. He was stalking the girl and asking her to convert to Islam. On refusing, he and his friends abducted her and raped before selling.
Organiser spoke with the victim’s father, Dilip Mishra on July 10 and found a lot of details in this case that are missing from the mainstream media reports.
We found that the accused Aman Khan first posed as a Hindu boy to trap the girl. Dilip told this correspondent that, Aman was stalking his daughter Anusha (name changed to protect her identity) while she went the school and coaching.
With time he managed to lure her into his fake love trap. Back then, he said, he was a Hindu. Anusha met him twice or thrice and in the meanwhile, he clicked some pictures with her. In the name of love, he also raped her and recorded everything.
From then on, Aman has been blackmailing Anusha do to extreme stuff including meeting him regularly and eating beef (Cow’s meat). Soon, Anusha found Aman was a Muslim and his full name was Aman Khan.
After learning about his true identity she distanced herself and this irked Aman. He started following and blackmailing her against the picture and the clips he had. He asked her to accept Islam and become a Muslim, to which she immediately refused.
Anusha had not told her parents, about anything she was witnessing as Aman threatened her that, he will share their intimate video on social media and then no police or her parents would be able to help her.
In June 2023, while the victim cut all ties with Aman, she was repeatedly forced to convert, he threatened her and said, ‘I am a Muslim and we don’t hesitate in cutting cows so who are you, I will show you the power of Muslim men who can kill anyone. If you will not become a Muslim, I will cut you into pieces in your house’.
Dilip shared screenshots of the chat between Anusha and Aman, here are some excerpts:
Aman said, “I have given you enough time to decide if you are going to convert or not, but now, I cannot wait, I will chop you into pieces and throw them around.”
He added, “This is your last day at home, now you will be kidnapped, raped and murdered. I am seriously asking you to come and sleep with me and accept Islam. If you will tell this to your parents I will come inside your house and chop you into pieces. I am a Muslim, we don’t hesitate in cutting cows then who are you?”
He threatened to kill all her family members.
In the chat further, he said, “I am Aman Khan, son of Mahmood Khan, if you will tell this to the police or anyone, I will kill all your family members.”
Dilip told Organiser that, the day when Aman took Anusha to a place nearby where he tried to force-feed her beef and asked her to convert, she reached the police station and registered a complaint against him. It was June 5 and the same day, the police arrested him.
However, Mahmood Khan came to Dilip’s house and said, he apologises for his deeds and assured him that nothing of this sort will ever happen. As the matter concerned his daughter, Dilip went for a settlement. Sharing an undertaking by Mahmood he said, Mahmood in front of the police signed it. A copy of the same can be seen below, the date on the letter is June 6, 2023:
Referring to this settlement, Aman in the chat with Anusha said, “We easily managed to brainwash your father in the police station, now that you have taken the complaint back, I will do everything I said. Earlier, I had beat you by showing a knife, this time I will kill you with a gun.”
He added, “You have committed the biggest mistake of your life by not accepting Islam, I was asking you to become a Muslim and you had a problem with that, now I will show you the power of Muslims. Haven’t you checked the news, about what we Muslims can do? I will do what no one has done so far, first I will rape you and then sell you”.
Aman said, his father asked him to get the girl converted to Islam by any means, even if it requires raping her.
The chats further read, “This time, I have the support of my father, he has asked me to get you converted, even if it requires raping you. I will show you the power of Muslims. I have money and power, I will get out of jail in no time, we have managed to manipulate you and your father to change their statements, now we will show you what Muslims can do”.
Aman said, “You have no idea, how rich we are, even if I will kill you, I can get out of jail. If you will tell your family about anything, we will get your father arrested in a false case. I can kill all of you. Either become a Muslim or get ready to see yourself into pieces.”
He said, “Now people will see how we Muslims will kill you Hindus, I am deleting this account and you will not be able to show this to anyone”.
Organiser checked the account of the accused with the handle name (itsaman.3235) on Instagram but the account had been deleted. However, his Facebook account is still active.
Dilip is a native of the village Kharwa, almost 60 kilometres from where he is living currently. Almost 15 years ago he moved to Hata, ward number–25, Indiranagar area. In his locality most families are Muslims, and a lot of Hindu girls have gone missing over the past few years. Their families believe they all have been killed. He is a cloth merchant by profession.
Other than Anusha, Dilip has two children, a son and a daughter. Anusha is the eldest of all and was studying in class 12 this year.
The day he learned about what Aman had done to his daughter he decided to drink poison. He is deeply depressed by the event and with tears in his eyes asked for a bulldozer drive against the accused.
He said Aman was not alone in this task, talking about the day of the abduction he said, after getting out of the house Anusha received a call from unknown people who said, your father has met an accident in the kapatganj area. When she did not believe, they told her her father’s name and said, he is the one lying on the road.
Anusha rushed to the spot where Mahmood pointed at her and told people in the van that, this is the girl. The men in the vehicle soon dragged her to the van and put a napkin on her face, when she woke up she was in Nepal.
It was a room, a woman came and asked her to get ready as customers would be coming soon, it was a brothel. The girl kept crying and hence she was locked in a room where she met another girl, who told her Aman left you here. After this turn by turn four people came and raped her saying, “You should have converted”.
Somehow Anusha managed to escape and call her father from a store in the market. Soon Dilip called the Sinauli police who tracked the girl and brought her to the police station.
He said, “Madam, my daughter has witnessed a lot and I want justice for her, all these men should be hanged. I want his house to be demolished by the administration”.
Talking about Mahmood he said, he too was involved in the matter and is currently absconding. The police must arrest him as well.
Organiser checked his Facebook account and found that he recently contested the councillor elections for his ward. He runs an electric appliance shop in the town and is an established man.
As of now, Aman has been arrested and his family members are absconding. The victim is safe with her family.
