Since last week the country is witnessing atrocity cases from the heart state states Madhya Pradesh and now to this row, a shocking case has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur. In a shocking case, a Dalit orphan woman was gang-raped by two Muslim men and when she asked for water they urinated on her face.

A First Information Report (number–216/2023) was registered at the Bindki police station on June 22. This FIR was registered on the orders of the district court.

Organiser called the Bindki Station House Officer (SHO), Arun Chaturvedi on July 6 to inquire about the case. Chaturvedi said the accused men are yet to be nabbed by the police teams. The case was registered on the orders of the court, he cannot comment on why the case was not registered before, as he is not authorised to.

Organiser called the Circle Officer Bindki, Sushil Kumar Dubey, who is investigating the matter but the calls went unanswered.

As per the Bindki police, the victim woman recorded her statement before the magistrate on July 3. As per the complaint, the accused men have been booked under IPC sections 376-D (rape done by more than one person), 354-C (capturing sexual activities), 506 (criminal intimidation) and the Prevention of Atrocities Act commonly called as the SC-ST Act.

The accused men are identified as Mohammad Anis, Mohammad Shamim and two others.

The Fatehpur police from their official Twitter handle shared a video statement of Superintendent of Police, Rajesh Kumar Singh stating, two families had a dispute over a piece of land and this woman was used by the other side to grab the land. The accused and the victim had as many as 213 calls before they met. He said the victim did not approach the police with the complaint. Watch the statement here.

As per the victim’s statement in the media, she is an orphan and got in touch with the accused men while hunting for a home. The accused promised her a home, under the Prime Minister Awas Scheme saying they will make sure the woman has her house.

On May 10, the accused called the woman to Fatehpur, they received her through a four-wheeler, saying they have arranged a meeting with the lekhpal. Later they raped her taking turns. The accused also filmed the sexual event. The crying and weeping victim requested mercy but they did not stop.

Watch her video statement here.

The accused crossed all the limits when the woman asked them to give her water, the men urinated on her face.

The woman went to the police station, but police refused to lodge a complaint. She approached the court and on the court’s order, the police lodged an FIR.

Till now the accused are not arrested by the police. Shockingly, these men are putting pressure on the victim woman for reconciliation and settlement outside the court. At the same time, they are threatening to kill her if she failed to adhere to their demands.

No official statement on the matter has come out to date.

In Madhya Pradesh, a Hindu man identified as Pravesh Shukla urinated on the face of a tribal man, Dashmat Rawat. The video of the act went viral on social media, on July 4 and within two days, the police arrested the accused, booked him under NSA, and bulldozed his house. On the other hand, the Chief Minister of the state met the victim and apologised for the barbaric act.

In a similar incident reported from Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, as many as seven Muslim men have been booked under the SC-ST Act for painting the faces of two Dalit men black. The accused claimed that the victim’s men were harassing a woman from the village through a mobile phone. With this allegation, the two men were paraded through the Muslim majority area with shoe garlands and their faces black.

Notably, the district administration demolished the houses of these Muslim men on July 6.

Notably, in the horrendous rape case from Fatehpur, netizens have started demanding a similar bulldozer action as done in Madhya Pradesh. Some of the users also question the silence of the so-called Dalit activists who only raise their voices, when their ‘Bhim–Meem’ unity remains unaffected.

Both in the Shivpuri and the Fatehpur case, these activists have chosen to remain silent, as if the victims are not Dalits. Attacking some of the comments by the social media users on this case:

A user wrote, “Bulldozer treatment is required here @myogiadityanath ji. @Profdilipmandal plz tweet requesting for bulldozer treatment.”

Another user wrote, “This won’t get coverage from Media because the perpetrators are Muslims”

Another user wrote, “As the culprits are Not Savarnas, @ambedkariteIND @Profdilipmandal will not play the Dalit Card.”
