On May 28, Pro-Khalistan posters of Khalistani extremist Jarnail Bhindranwale were placed outside the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

This comes ahead of the 39th anniversary of Operation Blue Star.

The poster outside the Golden Temple reads, “Tributes to the martyrs of Sri Darbar Sahib of June 1984″. The operation was carried out by Bhartiya Fauz”.

In the remembrance of the martyrs, a path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib will be held at Gurudwara Atal Rai Sahib, Amritsar, at 7:30 am. After this, the people will go to Akal Takth to pray, it further reads.

Notably, Khalistan had become a thing of the past, but after Bhagwant Mann took charge as the Chief Minister, Khalistan supporters are trying to make inroads in the state, throwing the law and order situation out of control.

Another poster invites people to the 39th Shaheed Samagam on June 6 at Mehta Chowk, Amritsar. The invite is by Amarbeer Singh, Pradhan Sikh Student Federation (Mehta). The poster also has the picture of Bhindrawale, Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa Bhindrawale, Head- Damdami Taksal. Notably, Bhindranwale was the head of the religious sect Damdami Taksal.

The poster outside the Golden Temple coincides with the 39th anniversary of Operation Blue Star when the Indian Army flushed out Khalistani extremists hiding in the Golden Temple premises in Amritsar.

June 1984 is known for Operation Blue Star, in which the Indian Armed Forces held an operation between 1 and 10 June 1984 to remove the Khalistani extremists Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his followers from the buildings of the Golden Temple. It was launched by the then-prime minister of India, Indira Gandhi.

The 1984 Operation Blue Star was the biggest internal security mission ever undertaken by the Indian Army.
During Operation Blue Star, Bhindranwale and Khalistan supporters took over the Akal Takht complex in Amritsar’s Golden Temple.
