Final touches are being given to the new Parliament building and it is likely to be ready by the end of this month, sources said on May 16. Although there is no official word from the Government yet.

As per the sources, the new Parliament building will be inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi. This building was part of the redevelopment of Central Vista, and the construction was started in 2020. The Central Public Works Department looks at the Central Vista project.

The construction of the new Parliament building is at its final stage. The inauguration will be done to mark the ninth anniversary of the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) Government. After a landslide victory in the 2014 Loksabha elections, Prime Minister Modi and the Council of Ministers took oath on May 26, 2014. Though the date is yet to be announced, but the inauguration will be done before the monsoon session (July to September).

The Tata Projects bagged the contract for the construction, and the architect of this project is Bimal Hasmukh Patel. The new Parliament is located at Plot No. 118, Sansad Marg in New Delhi. The new Parliament building costs around Rs 970 crore and is constructed over 65,000 sq mts.
It is a four-story building with two large halls set aside for the functioning of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The Lok Sabha Hall is designed peacock-themed with a seating capacity of 888. The Rajya Sabha Hall has a lotus motif with a seating capacity of 384.

The building has a state-of-the-art Constitution Hall to showcase India’s democratic heritage. It has a library, dining areas, office spaces for MPs and parliament staff, meeting rooms and ample parking space.
The new Parliament will have three doors – Gyan Dwar, Shakti Dwar, and Karma Dwar. Apart from separate entries for MPs, VIPs and visitors.

The uniforms for the staff of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will be the same; earlier, they had different uniforms. These uniforms are designed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and will be in sync with Indian culture.
