Jharkhand Police arrested Arbaaz Alam, his wife Rehina Biwi and two other accomplices for allegedly murdering Sushila Hansda, a tribal girl, after she resisted their human trafficking attempts. The case is related to a missing person’s case filed in January 2022.

Arbaaz Alam allegedly trapped Sushila Hansda in his love over social media and called her to his house, where he tried to sell her for Rs. 50,000/- which she protested. Following her protests, Arbaaz Alam and his accomplices allegedly killed her and set her body on fire on January 12, 2022.

However, Jharkhand Police arrested Arbaaz Alam and his accomplices 14 months after the incident and sent them to judicial custody.

The 26-year-old Sushila Hansda was a resident of Sanjodi village under the Barhet Police Station’s jurisdiction. On January 11, 2022, she left her house, telling her friend Pramila that she was going to Dumka, after which she did not return home.

The deceased’s brother, Johnson Hansda, suspected Arbaaz Alam. Jharkhand Police registered a case against Arbaaz Alam based on Johnson Hansda’s complaint. According to Jharkhand Police’s investigation, Arbaaz Alam, his wife Rehina Biwi alias Mislata Tudu, Priyanka Murmu and Sahil Ansari were involved in Sushila Hansda’s murder.

The Jharkhand Police arrested Arbaaz Alam and his wife, Rehina Biwi, from Kerala and recovered two girls from their possession. He allegedly sold the girls in Kerala. Reportedly, Arbaaz Alam has done the same with other girls in the past.

On this incident, the BJP’s Leader of Opposition in Jharkhand, Babulal Marandi (@yourBabulal), tweeted, “Santhal Pargana area of Jharkhand is becoming the safest zone for love jihadis,” and asked Chief Minister Hemant Soren to take care of his constituency, Barhet.

He tweeted, “Last year, human trafficker Arbaaz trapped a tribal girl from Chief Minister’s assembly constituency Barhet in his love and exploited her, then he sold her, and when she protested then Arbaaz, along with his wife Mislata Tudu, killed her and then burnt her body by sprinkling petrol.” Furthermore, he claimed, “The roots of this conspiracy are very deep. The strings of land and love jihad are linked to international organisations.”
