Padma Shri recipient Kangana Ranaut is fierce with her comments on social media, no matter who is on the other side. Her rivalry with the actress Deepika Padukone has been constant if one looks at her social media accounts. Contrary to her usual behaviour, she praised Deepika for her Oscars appearance. Social media users trolled her, saying she is sympathising with the ‘Tukde Tukde’ gang member.

Here is all you need to know about the matter.

On March 13, Kangana posted an update about Deepika’s appearance at the Oscars. Here is the original Tweet, “How beautiful @deepikapadukone looks, not easy to stand there holding entire nation together, carrying its image, reputation on those delicate shoulders and speaking so graciously and confidently. Deepika stands tall as a testimony to the fact that Indian women are the best (red heart and national flag emojis).”

In the video quoted by Kangana, Deepika can be seen saying, “An irresistibly catchy chorus, electrifying beats and killer dance moves to match have made this song a global sensation. It plays during a pivotal scene in ‘RRR’, a movie about the friendship between real-life Indian revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. In addition to being sung in Telugu and illustrating the film’s anti-colonialist themes, it’s also a total banger!”

Kangana was trolled for her remarks on Deepika; here are some of them

A Twitter user wrote, “But sorry to say, every Indian will stand for an Indian not for tukde gang, we will not forget and forgive Anti-nationals! Between Maal phoonke koi bhi kahin bhi can stand tall”

Another user wrote, “Indeed but, It would be more beautiful and charming, if she would have wore Indian attire.”

A user shared Deepika’s picture from JNU and said, “Yeah training was good’.

A user wrote, “I think India need to take their soft power everywhere and she should have dressed in Indian dress”.

After getting trolled by the social media users and her followers, Kangana posted a clarification from her official Twitter account today (March 15). This is what she wrote, “All those acting shocked that I praised Deepika , don’t overthink,I am a very simple person I just follow Krishna/Dharma n he says kisi ko undeserving credit dena anachar hai lekin kisi ko deserving credit na dena usse bada anachar/paap hai, bollywoodias may have failed but I haven’t”.

Here is a list of Kangana vs Deepika clashes to date for those who do not know about their rivalry. It all started with the controversial demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput after which a whole debate started on nepotism and favouritism inside the industry. Kangana also took a dig at Deepika over her mental health row where she called the actress’s mental health awareness work a ‘dhandha’.

2014: After Deepika won the best actress award for the film Happy New Year, from the stage, she dedicated her award to Kangana for her acting in the film Queen. Kangana did not receive any award for the film. After Deepkia’s statement, Kangana, while speaking with media said, she must have appreciated her in person, as even after her remarks, she did not receive any calls from the actress.

2015: Kangana invited Deepika for the screening of her him Tanu Weds Manu, but Deepika could not attend it. While speaking with media, she said, “I did extend an invite to Deepika, but I never got a response. I have always been supportive of my contemporaries and will continue to be, but it is hurtful when you don’t get the same kind of support”.

2019: Judgemental Hai Kya row, Deepika Padukone’s The Live Love Laugh Foundation (TLLL Foundation) questioned the intention of Kangana Ranaut’s 2019 film ‘Judgementall Hai Kya’. The Foundation took to Twitter to question the intention of the post.

Their post read, “It is time we put an end to the use of words, imagery and/or the portrayal of persons with mental illness in a way that reinforces stereotypes.”

“Many millions who suffer with mental illness in India already face tremendous stigma. Therefore,it is extremely important to be responsible and sensitive towards the needs of those suffering.” the post added further.

After these Tweets, Kangana’s sister Rangoli took to Twitter and said, “dont put a gun on the movie before watching it. I am sure after watching the film the foundation will make Kangana their brand ambassador by removing Deepika”.

2020: the JNU row – In January 2020, Deepika visited JNU to support the JNU students who were attacked on the university campus.

After her visit, Kangana told media, “Deepika knows what she should have done. She’s been within her democratic line. But if you ask me, if I was given a choice, I’d never go and stand behind the Tukde-Tukde Gang, because I don’t like them. I don’t think they are right.”

“I think women should support women and I don’t want to comment on what she did and what she should have done. She knows what she should have done and she is prepared to bear the consequences, so why should we be bothered about that? Also, she is within her democratic rights. She has not stepped out of the line. She has not done anything that will have any severe consequences. If you ask me and if I am given a choice, I would never go to a place and stand behind the Tukde-Tukde Gang” she added further.

In July, Kangana again took it to Twitter and wrote, “Bechari @ReallySwara toh aaj tak sab freefund mein ka rahi thy yaken nahi ho pa rahi ki Deepika ko JNU jane ke paise milte hai.”

On June 24, she wrote, “This criminal not only took part in an illegal guild that was made only to emotionally & mentally harass one individual but he also threatened Rangoli maam when she confronted him, this fool does not even realise that its not us but his Deepika who has accused him of making money”.

After Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, she wrote, “Mumbai Police is exposed big time, Sushant’s family said they don’t trust them, also Bollywood’s “repeat after me” gang, depression ka dhanda chalane wale should be remanded @deepikapadukone”

On July 29, Kangana lashed on Deepika for not inviting her to her wedding with Ranveer Singh (actor). Kangana from her Twitter account wrote, “This is a picture and article from Deepika Ranveer wedding, they called Pakistani agent and conspired JNU protest but boycotted only two top stars one is killed other one fighting for her survival “

On August 9, she wrote, “Ranbir Kapoor is a serial skirt chaser but no one dare call him a rapist, Deepika is a self proclaimed mental illnesses patient but no one calls her a psycho or a witch, this name calling is reserved only for extra ordinary outsiders who come from small towns and humble families”.

Here is one of Kangana’s Tweet on Deepika’s mental illness, as she wrote, “If @deepikapadukone says she suddenly got depressed for a break up which happened 10 years ago, we believe her so give me and Sushant same respect if I say I am not mentally ill or if Sushant’s father says he wasn’t mentally ill believe us also na. Why you forcing illness on us?”

There is no end to the instances when Kangana commented on Deepika or waged a full-blown war against her on Twitter. Her recent stand raises suspicion on many fronts considering the lengths of their past rivalries. Well, social media users have shown the actress a mirror.
