Construction works have been in full swing at the Ram Janmabhoomi site in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya since August 2020. This year Hindus will observe the Ram Navmi on March 30. On the auspicious occasion of the Ram Janma, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, with the State Government, is planning a grand celebration in the city.

The preparations for the events are on which will coincide with the nine-day Hindu festival of Navratri. As many as 200 artists will perform in the events organised by the state culture department from March 28.

Ram Navami is observed as a festival to commemorate the birth of Shri Ram who is the seventh avatar of the deity Vishnu. His birth coincides with the Chaitra Navaratri and falls on the ninth day called Chaitra Shukla Paksha. Chaitra is also the first month as per the Hindu calendar.

During the celebrations at the Ram Janmabhoomi site, the Yogi Government will also organise ‘Ramayan Conclave’ and ‘Ram Leela’. The Mahotsav is to be inaugurated by the State Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, on March 30, a day before the Ram Navami.

Notably, this year Ayodhya will celebrate Navaratri in a new style by not restricting the celebrations to the Ram Janmabhoomi site only. As per the reports, celebrations will be held at Ram Ki Paidi ghat on the banks of the Saryu river.

Such events are a part of mega celebrations in the temple town, which are organised by the State Government and the culture department before the temple is officially opened for visitors. The temple, which is under construction, is expected to open in Sankranti next year.

While speaking with the media, a member of the trust, Dr Anil Mishra, said, “The Ram Navami celebrations this year will be organised across the city to make sure more and more people participate in it. Only a few events will be organised at the Ram Janmabhoomi site, citing security reasons”.

Construction of a temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi site is the dream of many Hindus; hence, these events will have lakhs and lakhs of visitors. The devotees are visiting the pious town in huge numbers even before the completion of temple works.

It is pertinent to mention that the Ram temple has been there in the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) manifesto since always and these events are likely to boost their image in the upcoming general elections.
