Dimapur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 24 said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is striving to bring permanent peace in Nagaland so that the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, is completely lifted from the State.

Addressing an election rally in Dimapur, PM Modi said corruption was a major issue that plagued the North East’s development. Now, resources are being utilised effectively for people’s growth.

PM Modi asserted that the BJP-led NDA had adopted three mantras for a developed Nagaland: peace, progress and prosperity (PPP). He assured that the PPP model of NDA will bring stability and development to the State. He said the BJP had put a big dent in corruption by employing technology, resulting in money sent from Delhi being directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

Taking a jibe at the Opposition Congress party, PM Modi said successive Congress Governments ignored the North East for decades. BJP has brought an era of peace, stability and development.

“The Congress used the North East as an ATM, while the BJP considers the eight states of the region as ‘Ashtalakshmi’ and is working for its peace and development.” The PM expressed his Gratitude to the people of Nagaland for their support. He said we are proud of the State’s contribution to our nation.

The country can’t be run by distrusting your own people but by respecting and solving their problems. Earlier, the North East had politics of divide; we have now transformed it into divine governance. The BJP does not discriminate against people based on religion or region and religion,” PM Modi said.

But earlier, the grand old Congress party tried to run the North East region with remote control from Delhi despite having democratically elected state Governments. PM Modi said that Congress syphoned off money meant for its region’s development while giving primacy to “dynasty politics, from Delhi to Dimapur”.
