On February 14, 2023, a Pune based NGO named Amhi Punekar announced that a statue of the Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be erected in the India-Pakistan LOC (Line of Control).

The main motive behind this is to ensure that the soldiers fighting at the borders will get motivated by the ideal and moral values just by looking at the statue on a daily basis.

As per reports, the statue will be installed in two places of the LOC, Kiran and Tanghdar-Titwal valleys of Kashmir. It will be installed under the supervision of Kupwara’s District Collector, Dr Sagar Dattatray Doiphode in Kashmir.

The event was planned at the initiative of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Atakepar Smarak Samiti chief Abhayraj Shirole and the head of the Pune NGO, Hemant Jadhav.

By the end of March 2023, the Bhoomi-Pujan of the statue will be completed. Soil from Raigad, Torana, Shivneri, Rajgad and Pratapgarh forts will be taken for the ceremony.

Shirole stated that “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj with his daring tactics and deeds, drove away his enemies. Various countries around the world followed his guerrilla tactics. “

Additionally, the statue will provide inspiration to the soldiers on the borders with ideals of Shivraya and motivation through statue.

In January 2022, the Maratha Light Infantry regiment of the Indian Army installed two statues in Jammu and Kashmir. One of these statues has been installed at a height of 14800 feet above the sea level.

Two more statues will be and erected by the Pune Based NGO’s.
