AP Samastha leader Ponmala Abdul Khader Musliyar said on January 28 at Kozhikode that religious freedom in our country is unparalleled. He was addressing the Sunni Students’ Federation Golden Fifty State Delegate Conference. India permits religious freedom. Islamic organisations are more active here than in any other Country.

Religious freedom in our Country is far better than that of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Malaysia and Singapore. Here, his organisation operates from Central Mushavira to Zonal Mushavira. Ponmala Musalyar said grassroots religious freedom is not seen in any other country like Bharat.

Musliyar stated that Muslims are free to use microphones for Friday speeches in Bharat, which is not possible even in Saudi Arabia.

Kanthapuram AP Abubakr Musliyar inaugurated the conference. He stated that extremism and terrorism are not solutions to any issue. Sunni philosophy is against extremism.

The resolution passed by the conference said that the Country should not be insulted to oppose the ruling apparatus.

Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen (KNM) State secretary Abdul Majeed Swalahi said that Bharat is where Muslims get maximum security and peace. Speaking to Janam TV, he said youths should be aware of the danger of extremism.

Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama (All Kerala Ulama Organisation), known as Samastha, is an association of eminent Sunni scholars who enjoy the highest support base among Kerala Muslims. It was launched in 1926. A forty-member Mushawara was the high command of the Sunni council.

The council administered thousands of Shafi’ite mosques, madrasas (institutions where children receive primary Islamic education) and Arabic Colleges (the equivalent of north Indian madrasas).

The council was organised in the aftermath of the 1921 Mappila Uprising in response to the growing Salafi Movement in Kerala.
