Jharkhand Maoist leader Krishna Hansda carrying Rs 15 lakh bounty arrested

Notorious Maoist and zonal Commander of the Parasnath zone of the outlawed CPI (M) Krishna Hansda has been nabbed in the outskirts of Giridih district on January 13.

As per the reports, acting on a tipoff a joint team of personnel from CRPF and district forces had launched a manhunt in the early hours of Friday, following which Krishna has been arrested from Fatehpur village under Dimri police station of Giridih.

Hansda is considered to be the zonal commander of the Parasnath Zone and the liability had been bestowed upon him after the arrest of Central committee member Prashant bose in 2021. A resident of Pirtand of insurgency-hit Giridih, Krishna is considered to be one of the most feared zonal commanders of the banned CPI – M in Jharkhand.

It’s been reported that a huge amount of ammunition and explosives have been recovered from him, however raising the speculation Jharkhand police so far have not disclosed any information about the arrest of the dreaded Maoist.

More than a dozen cases including of loot, murder, arsoning have been pending against him in the different police stations of the state, confirmed an official familiar with the development.

“He was on the run for a long time and a whopping bounty of Rs 15 lakh has already been placed on his head by the state government”, Krishna and his group were active in the Parasnath Zone including the adjoining areas of Giridih, he added.

Let us tell you that the security forces have intensified the combing operations against the Maoist in the Maoist-affected states like Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, it’s been learnt that these operations have been intensified after the Union Home Minister Amit shah recently vowed to eradicate the left-wing extremism before the Lok Sabha elections of 2024.
