Bajrang Dal worker murder: Sambhu stabbed to death by Selim Uddin while returning from a training camp in Assam’s Karimganj

Guwahati: A Bajrang Dal member was brutally murdered by a Muslim boy in the Karimganj District of Assam.

As per report, a Bajrang Dal member named Sambhu Koiri was stabbed to death by a Muslim youth while returning from a Bajrang Dal training camp held in the nearby Hailakandi District on January 8 night.

An eye-witness said that killer Selim Uddin attacked Sambhu Koiri with a sharp weapon. Koiri was a resident of the Lowairpowa village in the Patharkandi area of the District. He was attacked from the backside by the killer Selim Uddin and hit several times on the head, face and neck with a sharp weapon. He was killed on the spot.

The killer Selim Uddin tried to flee after the brutal murder. After the information of the murder of the Bajrang Dal member was spread, hundreds of people came out to the street and staged protests. The people demanded immediate justice for the family of the deceased Sambhu Koiri and surrounded the local Bazarichara police station. The killer Selim Uddin fled from the incident spot but later, police arrested him. The situation is still tense in the area.

Police said that the investigation is on, and police are searching if any other people are involved in the heinous murder. A case has been registered in Bazarichara Police Station. After the murder, the situation became tense in the locality. District administration deployed police and security forces to control the situation. As per the police, the situation is under control as of now.

Locals say that there was a scuffle between killer Selim Uddin and victim Sambhu Koiri during a local cricket match a few days ago. But it was resolved by the seniors. But on January 8, killer Selim suddenly attacked Sambhu and stabbed him to death while walking from the bus stand toward his house.
