Third Russian dies in Odisha in two weeks

Paradip (Odisha): A Russian national working as a chief engineer in a cargo ship was found dead onboard in Odisha, police said on January 3. In two weeks, this is the third Russian found dead.

The Russian, identified as Milyakov Sergey, was found dead in a ship anchored at Paradip Port in the Jagatsinghpur District.

Marine police, along with other statutory authorities, will investigate the death of Milyakov Sergey, and after that, only the final report will be available, police said.

A lawmaker in Russia, Pavel Antov died after allegedly falling from the terrace of the hotel’s third floor on December 24, while his friend Vladimir Bidenov was found dead in his room on December 22. Both the cases are being investigated by the Odisha Police.

Crime Branch’s investigation has revealed that the Russian nationals were on a trip to the tribal region of Odisha.

A Crime Branch team and the State Forensic Science Laboratory experts visited Sai International Hotel in Rayagada on December 30, where the Russian nationals were found dead. Deputy Superintendent of Police Saroj Kant Mahanta led the team.

The team inspected the place where the body of Pavel Antov was found lying. The team thoroughly examined it with the assistance of forensic experts. A pair of slippers and latent fingerprints from glass of the deceased were recovered from the spot.

The Crime Branch team also discussed with the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Rayagada, IIC Rayagada town police station, regarding the evidence gathered from the spot by the local police.

Odisha police said Crime Branch is cross-checking the information gathered from their co-travellers, Pansasenko Natalia and Turov Mikhail. They were examined at CID-CB headquarters at Cuttack.
