Guwahati: Taking a jibe on Bharat Jodo Yatra by the Congress party, Home minister Amit Shah said on Saturday in Guwahati that during 1962 Indo China war, then PM Jawaharlal Nehru bid adieu to this part of the country showing his weakness as the head of the country. But PM Narendra Modi’s silent efforts bound the entire North East by the same thread with the rest of the country and truly united the nation. It was Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi who made it possible that Assam remained with India during partition. Otherwise, Congress leadership was in favour of grouping undivided Assam with Pakistan. Addressing a huge party worker meeting in Guwahati, Home Minister Shah said during Congress rule dozens of insurgency groups acted in NE working against the nation to break the country. But Congress was only a silent spectator. It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who created a roadmap for a peaceful and developed North East and allotted thousands of crores for infrastructure development of the region. It is PM Modi’s tireless initiative that the North East is now well-connected by rail, road and air. As a result almost, 9000 insurgents have returned to the mainstream in the last eight years. AFSPA has been revoked from more than 80 percent of areas of the North East, HM Shah added. He further said that Assam was once a huge transit route of Cow smuggling, but today I can proudly say as the Home Minister of the country that not a single cow is allowed to smuggle through Assam by the state BJP government.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP national president JP Nadda said that it was almost a dream for the people of Assam to have AIIMS in the state, Cancer care facilities in Assam, medical colleges in each district of the state, but the BJP government under the leadership of PM Modi made all these dreams a reality. In the next four years, Assam will have 24 medical colleges serving the poorest of the poor of the state. He further added that almost 50 thousand party workers gathered in the meeting venue in Guwahati is a big achievement for the party. ” Other political parties can’t think about a public meeting with a gathering of 50 thousand people, but it is the BJP which have 50 thousand booth level workers in a state like Assam.”, president Nadda Added. Speaking at the Karyakarta meet, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said banning the anti-national force like PFI is a bold and courageous decision by the central government. Under the leadership of PM Modi Ji and HM Amit Shah ji we are committed to root out all radical forces from our state and North East.

Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah, National President JP Nadda and CM Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the newly constructed state BJP head office in Guwahati. Later in the evening, HM Amit Shah will chair the North East Council (NEC) meeting where all chief ministers of the NE states will be present. He will also join the Police Superintendent of Assam conference in Golaghat on Sunday.
