Vijayadashmi 2022 marks 97 years of RSS signifying almost a century of fight for Bharatiyatva

RSS was established on Vijaya Dashami in 1925 by Doctor Keshav Hedgewar ji marking one of the most significant events for "Bharatvarsh".

Vijayadashmi is celebrated for a variety of reasons. On this day, Bhagwan Ramachandra is said to have slayed Ravana and triumphed. Vijaya Dashami also heralds the start of the harvest season. People seek Mother Earth’s blessings for a bountiful harvest, peace, and prosperity. Arjun hid all of his weapons in the hollow of the Shami tree before going into hiding. However, on this day, when the Kourav army was herding King Virat’s cattle, Arjun took his weapons from the Shami tree and confronted and defeated the army. This day has been designated as Vijaya Dashmi to commemorate these events. This is a festival of victory and valour. The legend of Vijaya Dashami and Shami pooja states that Pandava worshipped the Shami tree to protect their weapons and also performed Durga pooja. Since the day of their (Pandavas’) victory on the battlefield over the Kouravas, the day has been celebrated as Vijaya Dashami, and Shami pooja has become an important ritual in the Vijaya Dashami celebration.

In recent times, one of the most significant events for “Bharatvarsh” was the establishment of RSS by Doctor Keshav Hedgewar ji. RSS was established on Vijaya Dashami in 1925. Veer Savarkar held high regard for Shri Ram and Shri Krishna. He used to say that both were army chiefs and the country’s supreme leaders. He celebrated Vijaya-Dashami in London in 1909. “When Prabhu Shri Ram gave up his kingdom, to obey his father’s word, but primarily for the eradication of demons, He did a great job,” he said of Ramchandra’s work. His work was superior when Shri Ram attacked Lanka and prepared for the unavoidable and righteous battle of slaying Ravana.” Sangh is also working to change the demonic thought processes of numerous people brainwashed by western and mughal invaders.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s mission, according to Golwalkar Guruji, is “revitalization of the Bharatiya value system based on universality and peace and prosperity for all.” One of the organization’s ideologies is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, the ancient Indian sage’s worldview that the entire world is one family.

Since its inception, Sangh’s work has faced numerous challenges; it began when we were under British rule, and freedom from British rule was one of them; however, Dr. Hedgewar had a long-term vision of restoring the glory of this great nation with deep cultural roots and a long history. The most important task he realised was to change each person’s slavery mindset and to develop a character who believes in “Nation first,” moves on the path of great Sanatan culture for the betterment of nation, and with social equanimity at its core to unite Hindus in order to guide the world on the path of humanity.

RSS is working in accordance with the following shloka to effect change in each individual in order to have a positive impact on society and the nation.

सत्यं रूपं श्रुतं विद्या कौल्यं शीलं बलं धनम्।

शौर्यं च चित्रभाष्यं च दशेमे स्वर्गयोनयः।।

Truth, Glory, Knowledge of Scriptures, Learning, Nobility, Modesty, Strength, Wealth, Valor and Eloquence are the ten signs of heaven.

Sangh believes in “Sanghatan Mantra”

समानी व: आकूति:,

        समाना: हृदयानि व:।

        समानमस्तु वो मनो,

        यथा व: सुसहासति।।

        ‌               ऋग्वेद:

Let our purposes be united, our feelings be harmonious, and our minds be collected, just as all aspects of the Universe existed in togetherness and wholeness!!!

Sangh harbours no ill will toward anyone or any religion. Sangh, on the other hand, believes in working for the aforementioned points, and when it is succeeding, those who do not believe in a strong Bharat socially, economically, and spiritually to lift the country to its highest glory and lead the world as a family head call Sangh abusive names, criticise destructively, and engage in dirty tricks to malign and ban the organisation. Swayamsevaks’ resilience, perseverance, dedication, and love for Bharat Mata and her work have not wavered, even when many have been killed, beaten, tortured, imprisoned, banned, and destructively criticised.

Sangh is also working to change the demonic thought processes of numerous people brainwashed by western and mughal invaders.

Many people wonder why the Sangh is solely dedicated to Hindutva causes. There’s nothing wrong with that because it’s for everyone’s good and prosperity, as it’s synonymous with Rashtriyatva (Nationalist), that includes all faiths and religions.

Social equanimity

Dr. Hedgewar ji, the RSS’s founder, had a unique viewpoint on social inequality. Whenever this topic came up, he’d say, “By blaming Muslims and Europeans for our demise, we cannot absolve ourselves of responsibility. We must look for flaws in ourselves.” We must acknowledge that social inequality amongst us has contributed to our demise. Caste and sub-caste rivalries, as well as untouchability, have all been manifestations of social inequality. The sadder and more unfortunate aspect of our social inequality is untouchability. Some believe it was non-existent in the past, but it infiltrated our social system and took root at some point. Whatever its origins, we can all agree that untouchability is a terrible folly that must be abandoned. There are no opposing arguments. “If slavery is not wrong, then nothing is wrong,” Abraham Lincoln, the man who abolished slavery in America, once said. Similarly, we must all declare, “If untouchability is not wrong, then nothing is wrong in the world!” As a result, each of us must strive to eliminate social inequality in all of its forms. Sangh and its organisations have had greater success in bridging the inequality gap and are still working on it. One such example is the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and Samajik Samarasta department.

Developing Swayamsevaks

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is more than just a school for instilling ideas and ideals. It is a character development school that emphasises hands-on learning. As previously stated, the volunteers are trained in a series of camps where they are instilled with habits and inspiration for motherland service through songs, participation in common life, discussions on history and national ideals and heroes, drill and physical exercises, assisting the needy in difficult and emergency situations, working on and solving various social and national issues, and so on. The value of leading by example has been fully realised.

Daily meetings of Swayamsevaks in Shakhas, larger gatherings on national festivals and the celebration of the Days of Heroes, as well as lectures and demonstrations and other methods, instil courage, discipline, a sense of service to society, respect for elders and learned, and so on. This is a one-of-a-kind system of educating the young people of the land in accordance with the tried and true ideals and practises of Bharatiya culture.

Setting the right narrative

Haters of Bharatiya culture and knowledge create a vilified narrative in order to create an atmosphere and mindset of hatred toward great Sanatan culture, its practises, great freedom fighters, caste-based discrimination, and organisations such as the RSS. One such instance is… Our society has a long and distinguished history. There has been complete freedom of thought and action throughout the centuries. As a result, many things were written in our texts that could be misconstrued. If the proverb Na stree swaatantryamarhati (Woman is unworthy of freedom) implies that women were despised in this society, the proverb Yatra naaryastu poojyante, ramante Tatra devataaha (Where women are revered, the gods rejoice) implies that women were revered. If one wishes to establish social unity and harmony, one must consider what concepts from our religious texts and history should be drawn from in order to eliminate disparities and consolidate Hindu society.

Swami Vivekananda’s principles have been followed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Swami Vivekananda’s vision was to restore the glory of the nation, and he emphasised many aspects with a strong cultural and Dharmic foundation to instil in our youth the belief in Indian self-reliance (Aatmanirbhar Bharat). RSS is not only a believer in Indian self-sufficiency, but it is also working on the ground with youths, encouraging industrialists, and engaging with governments to focus more on Indian self-sufficiency. RSS’s multidisciplinary, multidimensional work for growth in all sectors, from sports to industrial development to spirituality, is admirable and has Bharatiya roots.

If you really want to know Sangh, join it for a few months or a year. The image created by the media will fade, and reality will emerge, inspiring people to work for society and the nation with zeal.
