The gruesome killing of Ankit, a Dalit boy from UP by three brothers Irfan, Israr and Irshad for having an affair with their sister is still fresh in our minds. And now one more incident crops up where a Tribal Hindu-Bhil family in Maharashtra has alleged that their son Deepak Barde has been kidnapped for murder and brutally beaten up by Majnu Shaikh and his family members Samir, Aziz and Raju Shaikh along with Imran Shaikh for an affair with Shaikh’s 19-year-old daughter Saniya. Deepak’s family says they haven’t been able to trace him since August 31. Deepak is still untraceable.

Since August 31, a tribal family belonging to the Hindu-Bhil community in Bhokar village of Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district hasn’t been able to locate the whereabouts of their 31-year-old son Deepak Barde.

The family registered an FIR with the Shrirampur police station, where the father of Deepak, Raosaheb Barde has made some serious allegation against Shaikh, his relatives and family members.

Raosaheb in a telephonic conversation with a reporter said, “My only son Deepak went missing on August 31, he has been kidnapped by the Shaikhs and was brutally beaten up too. We can’t find him, we approached the police but haven’t heard from them anything on where our son is.”

Raosaheb has alleged that his son was kidnapped for murder and beaten by the Shaikhs for an alleged affair with Majnu Shaikh’s 19-year-old daughter. Raosaheb works at a hotel as waiter and had hopes from his now missing son Deepak to help them get through the tough times they have been facing.

Deepak had eloped with Shaikh’s daughter around a month ago, but they returned soon within a few days. Raosaheb claimed that Saniya’s maternal uncle Imran had then even lodged a missing complaint.

Raosaheb says that on August 29, one of Saniya’s brother had even visited their house and asked for the whereabouts of Deepak to him.

Raosaheb approached the police on August 31, claiming that his son Deepak had left for Pune on August 30, he had even spoken to him over the phone that day. However, fear took over him, after two villagers informed him next day, that his son was allegedly kidnapped by Majnu Shaikh and Imran Shaikh and kept at Majnu’s home.

According to the FIR copy, Raosahbe also claimed that his son was kidnapped for murder. He further alleged that his son was brutally beaten by the Shaikh family and since August 31, his son Deepak is not traceable.

The police registered an FIR under various sections of the IPC against five accused, Majnu Shaikh, Imran Shaikh, Samir Shaikh, Aziz Shaikh and Raju Shaikh.

Manoj Patil, SP Ahmednagar said, “We have registered a case and already arrested four people. The search is on, there are heavy rains here, once we find, relevant sections will be added in the case.”

The police have invoked sections of SC & ST (Preventions of Atrocities Act) in this case apart from relevant IPC sections said Patil.

Deepak who according to his maternal uncle Namdeo was well educated, and took odd jobs as he couldn’t land himself a mainstream job.

Raosaheb now doesn’t know what to do, he sounds hopeless. Namdeo says they don’t know what the Shaikhs, who are from the same village, might have done to Deepak.
