Agra (Uttar Pradesh): On Friday, a case was filed at Mantola police station in Agra against Zahid alias Pappu, chairman of the Shahi Jama Masjid management committee, for allegedly making communal threats to Mathura-based lawyer and petitioner in the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Eidgah Mosque case in Mathura court., Singh recently served a notice to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for allegedly digging out Krishna idols allegedly

“The Mantola police have filed a complaint under Indian Penal Code sections 153 (Provocation with the intent to provoke riot), 153(A) (Promoting hatred between different groups on religious grounds), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 67 (Information Technology (IT) Act).” After authorities have gathered adequate evidence, strict punishment will be taken against individuals found culpable,” he stated.

“We also warn people from making communally offensive statements and posting them on social media, as they will be severely punished,” the SSP stated.

The accused, Zahid alias Pappu, is accused of threatening Mahendra Pratap Singh, who had recently sent a notice to the ASI, requesting the recovery of Krishna’vigrah’ (idols) allegedly taken away by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb after razing the Krishna Janambhoomi temple in Mathura in 1670 and burying them under the stairs of Begum Sahiba Mosque in Agra’s Shahi Jam

The accused, Zahid alias Pappu, had threatened Mahendra Pratap Singh that if he approached the Shahi Jama Masjid, he would face grave consequences from the Muslims of Agra. The accused is accused of making his recording popular on social media, stirring communal emotions, according to the FIR filed by Sumit Kumar Nagar, the in charge of the Subhash Bazar police outpost.

Mahendra Pratap Singh, a petitioner and lawyer in the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi dispute, has filed an application with the Kotwali police station in Vrindavan, requesting security following ‘death threats’ given by Zahid.

“I have served a court notice on the ASI, requesting the return of Krishna idols buried beneath the stairs of the Begum Sahiba Mosque in Agra’s Shahi Jama Masjid complex.” However, Zahid Qureshi has threatened to kill me, thus I need security,” Mahendra Pratap Singh claimed in a Saturday appeal to the Mathura police.

Meanwhile, another video has gone viral, purportedly of Zahid Qureshi, chairman of the Intezamia Committee of the Shahi Jama Masjid in Agra, in which he claims that during the BJP’s control, attempts were made by people like Mahendra Pratap Singh to upset Muslims.
