Jammu: Chairman S. O. S. International – an Organization for PoJK Displaced Persons, Rajiv Chuni, has appealed to all members of the PoJK community to participate in maximum numbers in the upcoming “Shradhanjali AVM Punyabhumi Smarn Sabha”. The Remembrance Day is scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 08, 2022, at 10.30 am at Padma Shree Padma Sachdeva, Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Ground.

In a Press Conference, which was attended by prominent members of the community such as Prof. NN Sharma, VK Datta, Amarjit Singh, Ved Raj Bali, Jorawar Singh, Dharamvir Gupta, Chuni appealed to PoJK community members residing in Tehsils of Jammu Khas, Jammu North, Jammu South, Nagrota, Marh, Domana, Akhnoor, Khour RS Pura, Bishnah, Vijaypur, Samba, Hiranagar, Kathua, Billawar, Basohli, Udhampur, Kud-Batote, Reasi, Pouni-Barakh, Sunderbani, Nowshera, Rajouri, Kalakote, Mendhar and Poonch to participate in maximum numbers in “Shradhanjali avm Punyabhumi Smarn Sabha”.

In the scheduled programme, Chuni told the media, that tributes will be paid to thousands of people from Hindu and Sikh communities who laid down their precious lives while fighting Tribal and Pakistan Army raids in the districts of Muzaffarabad, Mirpur and Poonch of J&K State in October-November, 1947. He added, that on October 22, 1947, it was a full attack by the Pakistani Army on J&K and not a tribal raid as projected by Pakistan and some other people on this part.

“Our organization has been highlighting the issues of Displaced Persons from PoJK for the last 34 years. We are expecting a huge response from these areas,” Chuni said, adding that the community members residing in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and other states are also expected to join this program in large numbers.

“Our local organizational teams in all areas of Jammu Province and outside the Union Territory are visiting door-to-door to mobilize the community members to come and participate in the Memorial Day,” he said.

“We are also using social media platforms to reach every individual from the community. As per the reports coming from our different local organizational units, our people are very keen to participate in this program,” Chuni further said, claiming that the proposed function would be historic in the ongoing struggle of PoJK displaced persons.

Chuni said, “I appeal to the community members spread across the country to participate in the upcoming function and bear witness to the remembrance day — which will give a new direction and pace to our peaceful movement aimed at recognition of our basic constitutional rights which are otherwise denied to us by all the governments till date.”
