New Delhi: A video of LPU Professor Gursang Preet Kaur had gone viral on different social media platforms where she could be heard insulting Prabhu Shri Ram.
In the viral video, Prof. Kaur is saying Ram was actually a bad person and machinated against Ravan who was actually a good person.
“Do you know Ravan was a good person by heart? Ram is not a good person. I find Ram to be a cunning person. He made all the plans to trap Sita and pass the blame for this on Ravan. How can we decide who is good and who is evil? And the whole world is worshipping Ram saying Ravan is a bad person,” Prof Kaur is saying in the viral video.
After the video went viral, netizens started trending #BoycottLPU.
One Twitter user Prince Sharma wrote “Hi Lovely Professional University, how is your professor Gursang Preet Kaur still working with you after abusing about Hindu Gods…I was thinking this is the correct time to Boycott LPU.”
After the video went viral, the LPU administration sacked Prof. Kaur. Apologising for the incident, the LPU said it deeply regrets the incident. In a post on the university’s Instagram account, it said, “We understand that some people have been hurt by the video shared on social media where one of our faculty members can be heard sharing her personal opinion.”
“We wish to clarify that the views shared by her are absolutely personal, and the university doesn’t endorse any of them. We have always been a secular university, where people from all religions and faith are treated equally with love and respect,” it added.
In the same post it announced that it has relieved Prof. Kaur from the university with immediate effect.
The LPU, first private university in Punjab, was established in 2005 by Ashok Mittal and his family. Originally from Rajasthan, the family is settled in Punjab for over three decades and has multiple business interests.
What started as Lovely Institute of Management in 2000 has now a campus spread over 600-acres in the state.
