The grand CRPF day is usually held in Delhi-NCR, but for the first time, it will be held in Jammu and Kashmir.

New Delhi: Another first on cards. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Jammu to attend the 83rd CRPF Day Parade. This is the first time a CRPF parade will be held in Jammu and Kashmir.

Official sources said Mr Shah and Jammu, and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha would attend the CRPF’s annual raising day parade. The grand CRPF day is usually held in Delhi-NCR.

CRPF, the peacekeepers of the nation, is celebrating its 83rd raising day on March 19, and the local Jammu unit has been entrusted with the task of conducting the celebration.

Besides a splendid parade at Jammu’s Maulana Azad Stadium on March 19 in which troops from different sectors of CRPF across India will participate, there will be a musical programme on the theme of nationalism.

At present, 247 battalions are deployed in different parts of the country. The CRPF also discharges the duties in dealing effectively with the insurgency in the North-East region and left wing-extremism in other parts of the country besides fighting militant activities in J&K.

During the function, medals for gallantry services and exceptional achievements too will be given to the CRPF personnel by the Home Minister.
