National-International left groups are spreading false news about Dhalpur eviction, but they are never told that this land belonged to Assamese people and were grabbed by illegal settlers, and migrant Muslims brutally killed young Assamese boys. They never said about the 5000 years old Shiv Mandir in Dhalpur.
Guwahati: Martyr Day (Shahid Divas) is observed across Assam on Friday (10th December). The Shahid Divas is observed to commemorate the supreme sacrifices made by 855 martyrs during six years long Assam agitation against the aggression of migrant illegal settlers from Bangladesh. The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Marcha (BJYM) has organised the Shahid Divas in Morigaon town. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma participated in the program and paid tributes to the martyrs.
Speaking on the occasion CM, Dr. Sarma said that left radicals are trying to defame Assam constantly. National and International left groups are spreading wrong propaganda against Assam worldwide. These people are spreading false news about the Dhalpur eviction, but they are never told that this land belonged to Assamese people and were grabbed by illegal settlers, and migrant Muslims brutally killed young Assamese boys. They never said about the 5000 years old Shiv Mandir in Dhalpur, how the illegal settlers killed the temple priest and how another priest's wife was forced to convert to Islam, CM added.
All Assam Student Union (AASU) organised martyrs day programs at Nalbari town to pay tribute to those 855 brave sons laid their life to secure the rights of the indigenous Indian and Assamese people in the state. AASU chief adviser Dr. Samujjal Bhattacharjya said that the rights of the indigenous have to be secured forever in the state, and that will be a true tribute to those martyrs.
Alliance partner of NDA government AGP observed Shahid Divas in Shankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati. AGP President and Agriculture minister Atul Bora and all top leaders of the regional party joined hundreds of others to pay tribute to the martyrs of Assam agitation. It should be mentioned that Assam agitation started in 1979 against the aggression and infiltration of Bangladeshi Muslims and continued till 1985 until the then Congress prime minister late Rajiv Gandhi formally signed the Assam Accord with the AASU leadership. But the clauses of the Assam accord were never fulfilled.
The BJP government, under the leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi, has taken some serious steps in the last couple of years to enact the clauses of the Assam accord. 855 young Assamese boys were killed by migrant Muslims or in police firing during the six years long agitation. On 10th December 1979, the first martyr of agitation, Khargeswar Talukdar, was killed, and the day is being observed as Shahid Divas in Assam.
