Rukmina came to know from neighbours that her husband sold their son to a lady named Sajida Begum in a nearby village.
LAHARIGHAT: In a shocking incident, a man named Aminul Hoque from Laharighat in Morigaon district of Assam has reportedly sold his two-and-a-half-year-old son to buy drugs.
According to the mother of the child Rukmina Begum, the infant was at his maternal uncle's home with her. Aminul Haque visited his in-laws home and brought the kid with him, saying that he will take him to apply for an Aadhaar card. But the kid didn't reach home as his father sold him for 40 thousand to buy drugs. After that, Ainul Haque also didn't return home for three days. Sensing some danger, the kid's mother, Rukmina Begum, returned to Aminul's home and asked her in-laws about the child's whereabouts. But they refused to give her any information. Rukmina came to know from neighbours that her husband sold their son to a lady named Sajida Begum in a nearby village. Upon receiving the shocking information, Rukmina visited Sajida Begum's home and asked to return her son. But the lady refused to do that.
After this, Rukmina Begum complained at the Laharighat police station. Police immediately investigated the matter and found that the Child's father, Aminul Haque sold his son to Sajida Begum of nearby Barbari village for rupees 40 thousand. Police arrested both the accused Aminul Haque and Sajida Begum after receiving specific proof.
Rukmina Begum said that her husband is involved in drug peddling, and he consumes drugs. "When I asked him repeatedly to stop all these, he tortured me and sent me back to my parents home. Besides these, he is also involved in various anti-social activities." She revealed. Police handed over the child to Rukmina Begum.
