Vineet Narain, a journalist, based in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor, had put up a Facebook post accusing Shri Champat Rai and his brothers of land grabbing in Bijnor.

Allahabad High Court, on Friday (August 7), directed Narain to delete the post immediately. The court also warned Narain to be careful in future.

Earlier, Organiser had reported that the Uttar Pradesh police had lodged an FIR under various sections of the IPC against three people for putting up a derogatory post against VHP Vice-President Champat Rai, who is also the General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra.

Vineet Narayan, Alka Lahoti and Rajneesh, all from Nagina in Bijnor district, were booked under IPC sections 153 A, 193, 295-A, 448, 419, 417, 465, 487, 409, 470, 471, 504, 505(1)(c), 505(2) & 507 and 66(d), 71 & 74 of IT Act.

Rai has been associated with the RSS since his childhood, has recently been a victim of attacks by the Opposition parties.

Uttar Pradesh has assembly elections early next year.

A very prominent figure in the Ram Janmbhoomi movement, Champat Rai is also the General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, a trust constituted to look after construction and management of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya.

The construction work of Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya is in full swing. The temple will be open for Darshan in 2023. It is expected to be completed by 2024.
