Guwahati: As the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) led alliance is voted to power once again in Assam, the new government has to continue with its efficient Covid-19 management. The ruling alliance succeeded in electing their candidates from 75 seats (Asom Gana Parishad-9 and United Peoples Party Liberal-6) out of 126 legislative assembly constituencies and now sets to stake its claim to form the government in Dispur.

Meanwhile, the authority preponed the imposed night curfew to 6 pm (till 5 am every day) that will come into effect from Wednesday. In the revised guidelines, the authority asked all the shops and other business establishments to close on 2 pm (earlier it was allowed till 6 pm). Regarding the marriage ceremonies, the authority allows only 20 individuals to attend, whereas any public meeting or gathering has been strictly prohibited.

Assam secondary education board (SEBA) has already postponed matric (class 10 standard) and high madrassa examinations in Assam, scheduled to begin from 11 April next, as the number of Covid-19 positive cases continue to increase. The SEBA chairman RC Jain declared that the decision was taken following the corona upcharge in the recent days and new dates would be announced after monitoring the situation. The State reported around 4500 new corona-cases in the last 24 hours where more than 25 people died of Covid-19 complications during the period.

Presently it has around 26,450 active cases. State health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that till Tuesday, over 26,73,925 individuals were administered first doses of vaccine and over 20,95,430 with second doses. The Covid-19 recovery rate is registered as nearly 89%.

Reacting on the poll outcome, incumbent State chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal commented that the voters of Assam blessed the saffron party along with its political allies. The senior BJP leader commented that pro-people policies of Narendra Modi led central government and initiatives of the State government helped the ruling alliance in winning the assembly polls. The opposition Congress bagged only 29 seats whereas its ally All India United Democratic Front 16and Bodo Democratic Front four seats.

Sonowal in a statement on Tuesday thanked all sections of the people living in Barak-Brahmaputra valleys, hills and plains for giving a clear mandate to the saffron alliance in the polls. He commented that the voters including farmers, workers, artistes, journalists, sportspersons, academicians, employees etc supported the alliance due of its performance on various key areas including the development and fight against the corruption.

Besides PM Modi, Sonowal also thanked Union home minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda for their guidance and leadership in steering the alliance towards its victory. He also mentioned other senior party leaders including Union defence minister Rajnath Singh, Union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari, Union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda, Union textiles minister Smriti Irani, etc for their whole hearted supports and cooperation.

Special thanks were offered to Union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar and Dr Jitendra Singh, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, former Chattisgarh CM Raman Singh, party’s senior leader BL Santosh, Manoj Tiwari, Baijayant Jay Panda etc along with State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass, party’s national general secretary Dilip KumarSaikia and all karyakartas on the ground.
