Saad Hussain Rizvi, head of banned organisation Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan, was released from prison Tuesday, hours before National Assembly’s vote on the expulsion of the French Ambassador.

Expulsion of the French Ambassador is one of the major demands of TLP.

TLP, a radical Islamist organisation, has been demanding the expulsion of the French Ambassador for months now.
Rizvi has also been demanding that all relations with France be snapped.

France, after the brutal beheading of teacher Samuel Patty, has introduced laws with aim to check the growing radicalisation in the country.

The Muslims around the world feel Islam is the target, although no religion has been mentioned specifically in the legislation.

After the arrest of Rizvi on April 12, there was massive violence across many cities in Pakistan.

The Imran Khan government had promised Rizvi that a decision on his demand would be taken by February.

In February, the government sought an extension of the deadline to fulfill Rizvi’s demand.
