A mob of Sikhs attacked policemen in Nanded in Maharashtra Monday after being stopped from taking out a religious procession.
The Gurudwara had asked for permission to take a procession for Hola Mohalla. The authorities, citing rising cases of Corona, had denied permission and conveyed the same to the Gurdwara committee.
The committee had agreed to celebrate the occasion inside the Gurdwara premises.
But, in the evening, sword wielding-men started moving out for the procession.
The policemen on duty tried to stop them.
A scuffle broke out and about 12 police personnel got injured.
Maharashtra recorded more than 30000 new Corona cases Monday. The Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had warned of another lockdown if the people didn’t follow Corona guidelines.
