A young college student was attacked on the stage by Rakesh Tikait and his supporters when she asked questions about the Republic Day violence in Delhi.
Rashmi was attending the farmers’ protest and was on the stage when she expressed her desire to ask Tikait a few questions.
Rakesh Tikait, a businessman from western Uttar Pradesh, has emerged as the face of the farmers’ protest. Some farmers are sitting on the Delhi border demanding the repeal of the progressive farm laws passed by the Union government.
The moment the young lady started asking questions, all the men present on the stage with Tikait silenced her. The humiliation did not stop here.
She is asked about her caste by Tikait’s supporters.
Not only Tikait did nothing to stop his supporters but also asked the people to stop her from speaking. Suddenly her mike was switched off.
Rashmi did make an attempt to question Tikait but she was dragged off the stage.
The protesting farmers’ had asked for the police permission to take out a rally in Delhi on Republic Day. The police granted permission on the condition that the farmers’ would stick to a pre-agreed route and wouldn’t indulge in any kind of violence.
But, when the rally started on January 26, the farmers’ did not stick to the route which they had agreed for. Also, they indulged in massive violence causing damage to the Red Fort.
Just a kilometre from the Red Fort, many dignitaries, including the President and the Prime Minister, were sitting in the open for the Republic Day celebrations.
