In a shocking incident that happened in the Muslim-dominated Metiaburz (known as ‘mini Pakistan ) in Kolkata, West Bengal Hindus were beaten up by the goons asking them to leave their houses. The Dalit families of that area are under immense pressure from the land mafia to leave their locality so that can grab their land. A person named Muhammad Sheikh Mumtaz is accused of removing Hindus from their area with the help of his gang.

The situation worsened on Sunday (February 28, 2021) when the son of Muhammad Sheikh Mumtaz, along with many of his comrades and goons, came and threatened the Hindus of the area. The elderly, women and children were brutally attacked and abused by Muhammad’s goons. Injured Hindus had to be taken to the hospital. The minority Hindus feel insecured and they have the fear of losing their land. Moreover, Muhammad Sheikh Mumtaz and his goons are also accused of throwing pieces of beef in the nearby temple which shocked the minority Hindus.

Sheikh Mumtaz claims to be a promoter by profession and owns a private company. He claims that he ‘bought’ this land about 6 years ago. The 6 Hindu Dalit families are living on that particular land since the time of their ancestors. They also have the necessary papers and rent receipts for that land.

Hindus have been facing serious threats from the Islamists in West Bengal. The ruling TMC has been indulging in appeasement politics and the state-machinery has remained a mute spectator whenever Hindus are under attack.
