Two militant associates of LeT held in Hajin Bandipura while three arrested from Kupwara when they were trying to cross the Line of Control for militant training.
Jammu and Kashmir police Friday arrested two militant associates of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession in the Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Acting on specific information, Bandipora police along with 13 RR and 45 BN CRPF apprehended two militant associates of LeT.
During the joint operation at Bonikhan Mohalla area of Hajin Town, arms and ammunition including two live hand grenades and eight live rounds of AK 47 were recovered from their possession. Both terrorists identified as Ghulam Mohi- Ud -din Khan, son of Nazir Ahmad Khan of Paribal Hajin and Riyaz Ahmad Bhat, son AB Ahad Bhat of Bonikhan Mohalla Hajin.
On preliminary enquiry, it was revealed that the accused were associated with militant outfit LeT and were providing shelter, logistics and other material support to active militants of LeT in the Sumbal and Hajin area. In this regard, the police case has registered under FIR number 16/2021 under relevant sections. Further investigation has been taken up.
In another incident in North Kashmir, three terrorists were arrested by Kupwara police while they were trying to cross the Line of Control for arms training. Police held them on specific information. All three are in their age of 20s. The police received specific information that they had established proper contact with a militant commander of LeT in Pakistan. After getting the proper guidelines from the Pakistani terror commander from the Pakistan side, they were on their way to cross the LoC via Kupwara to meet the LeT terrorist commander get militant training.
All three has been identified as Mohammad Rameez Rather (27, a mechanic by profession), Javid Ahmad (22) and Aijaz Ahmad Sofi (27, a mechanic by profession), all residents of Kupwara. Police have registered a case (FIR no 48/2021) at police station Kupwara under relevant sections of law and further investigation is on.
