National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Sunday, October 11, 2020 said he wished that with China’s support, Article 370 of the Constitution, which conferred special status on Jammu and Kashmir, will be restored.
In an interview to India Today TV, Farooq Abdullah said that China was not happy with the abrogation of Article 370, which was scrapped on August 5 last year by Parliament.
“As far as China is concerned, I didn’t bring {the} Chinese president here. Our Prime Minister invited him to Gujarat and even did jhoola sawari with him. He (PM Modi) even took him to Chennai and had food with him,” he said.
Farooq Abdullah had said that China “never accepted” the Abrogation of Article 370, and hoped that it would be restored with China’s support.
“Whatever they (China) are doing at LAC in Ladakh is all because of the abrogation of Article 370, which they never accepted. I am hopeful that with their support, Article 370 will be restored in J&K.” Farooq Abdullah said.
“May Allah wish that our people get help from their might and our Articles 370 and 35-A get restored,” Abdullah said.
Responding to this, BJP’s spokesperson, Sambit Patra said “This is objectionable that a sitting MP is speaking about the restoration of Article 370 with the help of China. Farooq Abdullah said that abrogation of Article 370 disturbed China and tried to justify China’s expansionist thought”.
“Now Congress has started making comments in support of China. The PM does not go to the Beijing Olympics, but Sonia Gandhi does. Together they are making statements against the country,” Sambit Patra added.
“Congress has also supported Pakistan’s statement about Article 370 on the floor of the house. Farooq Abdullah and Rahul Gandhi’s attitude is very sad. Now, Congress has started speaking in support of China while giving statements against Modi Ji. Both Farooq Abdullah and Congress keep politics ahead and the country behind”, said Sambit Patra.
