In a big diplomatic win, the Asia-Pacific Group of the United Nations has unanimously endorsed India’s candidature for a non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council for a 2-year term in 2021-22.
In a tweet, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Syed Akbaruddin thanked all 55 members for their support.
The countries include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Pakistan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Oman, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and Papua New Guinea among others.
