Central Trade Union leaders inaugurating the convention
New Delhi: The National Convention of the Confederation of Central Trade Unions was held at Mavalankar Hall on December 31, 2018. Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh President Shri CK Saji Narayanan presided over the Convention. BMS general secretary Shri Virjesh Upadhyay, general secretary of TUCC Shri SP Tiwari, president of NFITU Shri Deepak Jaiswal, general secretary of INUTC Shri KK Tiwari, general secretary of HMKP Shri Subhash Malgi and president of NLU Shri NP Singh addressed the convention, which passed 20-point Charter of Demands. The Charter of Demands was submitted to the Union Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar who assured that he would request the Group of Ministers on Labour headed by Union Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley to call a meeting of the Central Trade Unions to address the demands.
The Charter demanded universal social security coverage to each and every worker under ESIC and EPFO. Scheme workers like Anganwadi Asha, mid-day meal etc should be declared government employees and until be provided with minimum wages of Rs 18,000. Contract workers should be made permanent, and till then they should be paid equal wage for equal work as guided by the Supreme Court of India. Implement all labour laws and punish violators of labour laws. Implementation of old pension scheme and all pensions like NPS, EPS, BOC should be made at par with CCS with government subsidy. Minimum wages for all categories should be raised Rs 18,000 per month with indexation and should be enforced throughout the country. Ceilings in all labour laws should be removed. Labourers and farmers representation should be provided in the NITI Aayog.
