Leaders of various political parties and social and cultural organisations during the condolence meeting

Bengaluru: A gamut of prominent political leaders from different parties, leading saints and social workers paid rich tribute to former Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee on August 26 at Town Hall. The hallmark of the event was the participation of the leaders from across party lines and paying homage to the BJP stalwart forgetting their political differences.

Deputy CM of Karnataka Dr G Parameshwara in his tribute said attempting to describe the personality of Atal ji is like trying to describe the Sun. He was one of few politicians who served as a role model to all. Witnessing the august gathering here, it is evident that he had no enemies or fault finders as he was an ideal role model. Everyone should emulate Atal ji, he said. Pejawara seer Swami Vishweshateertha, Shri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Mutt, Madara Channaiah Swamiji of Madara Guru Peetha and Bhalki Mattadish Swamiji also graced the occasion.

RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Mukunda CR recalled how Vajpayee ji led a balanced life by handling both difficulties and good times with equanimity. He was one of the few leaders who used speech as an instrument of change and also as a weapon. His parliamentary speeches are a lesson for the present leaders and students, he said. One of his qualities that we have to imbibe is to be aware as when to pause, when to stop and when to move forward in all aspects of life including our talk. Today we are in a situation where on one hand we are witnessing good aspects and on the other we have many challenges and disputes, but Atal ji’s life can guide us forward, he said.

Senior Congress leader Jaffer Sharief and JD(S) leader PGR Scindia also paid homage. Union Minister Ananth Kumar and BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa were also present. Jnanpeeth Awardee Dr Chandrashekar Kambara, senior author Dr M Chidanandamurthy, Padma Shri Dr Doddarangegowda and numerous other eminent personalities also paid their homage.
