In two ghastly incidents in Kannur, CPM goons attacked a BJP office in Payyannur and attempted to murder a BJP activist. A group of CPM goons hurled crude bombs at the BJP office, Mararji Bhawan, around 10 am in the morning.
In another attack, Renjith (33), a BJP worker was also severely injured. A gang of assailants attacked him near the old bus stand in Payyannur. He was out for shopping in the morning. Payyannur is a CPM party village, where CPM does not allow any other political parties to carry out their political activities. Renjith has been admitted to a private hospital in Payyannur.
The CPM goons were unleashing terror in the region after spreading the fake news that RSS-BJP workers attacked a CPM cadre. Following the violent incidents, the police have beefed up security in the area. The BJP district leadership accused the CPM of vitiating the political atmosphere in the district through targeted attacks.
