Kochi: RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sah Prachar Pramukh Shri J Nandakumar said that politicisation of sports and games is detrimental to their
development. Politics is not the be-all and end-all. The revival and promotion of our indigenous games and sports is the goal of Kreeda Bharati. He was addressing a function in connection with awarding Jijabai Puraskar to Smt Mary George, the mother of late
legendary Volley Ball player Jimmy George. Shri Nandakumar paid glowing tribute to Jimmy George, the
sportsman par excellence. He said, the policies of the present regime are
beneficial to the development of sports and games in Bharat. But, more and more NGOs should come forward in this direction. Then only Bharat can achieve her targets in sports and
gamesdom. We should be able to uphold the prestige of 130 crore strong compatriots by making our ‘golden’ presence in Olympics and other international sports and games competitions.
P Ravi Achan, State president Kerala Kayika Vedi (KKV), the State unit of Kreeda Bharti and veteran cricketer of yesteryears, presented the Jijabai Puraskar to Smt. Mary George. Working President Prof M Rajendran presented Mangal Pathra (felicitation certificate). Ravi Achan remarked, now time is
fertile for the flourishing the sports and games in the country. These days, family members of the players take keen interest in the sports and games of their wards.
Jimmy George’s brother Jose George (Retd. IPS) replied the felicitations. He said that even though ten children of his parents did not get the food which comes under the so-called nutritious food of these days, his mother knew what they required. Only a mother can understand and decide it.
Smt George is the mother of ten
children; all belong to the ‘Who is Who’ of the sports and games in Kerala and the whole country. Jimmy George who got a berth in the Kerala State Volley Ball team at the age of 16, was presented Arjun Award at the age of 21. He died in a tragic accident in Italy in 1987 at the age of 32. Jimmy was an officer in Kerala Police. He was playing for some major Italian clubs after availing leave from his work. Jimmy’s brother, Bobby George has been awarded Dronacharaya Award in athletics. All other nine brothers and sisters are veterans in Volley Ball.
Jijabai Puraskar is instituted to
honour the mothers who bring up their children as exemplary personalities in sports and games. It is named after the heroine mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Last year KKV awarded the Jijabai Puraskar to Smt Lakshmi, the respected mother of Sprint Queen PT Usha.
Kreeda Bharati was founded in 1991 by the veteran RSS functionary Laxman Rao Pardikar. (Unfortunately he died in a car crash an year ago). “Sports for all” and “Pleasure to Mind and Health” are the primary mottos of the organisation. Kreeda Bharati aims at the promotion of the indigenous games which provide both pleasure to mind and health to the body. It believes that sports is the right of all. It is possible because Bharat’s indigenous games are not at all expensive. But, the new foreign games have almost wiped out the indigenous games from even our villages. Kreeda Bharati aims at bringing them back to the arena of sports and games and introduce a novel “sports
culture” in the country.
KKV organises several programmes for the youths in this regard. Last year two cycle trips were organised for the youths and students in Kerala. One was Bengaluru to Thiruvananthapuram; around 75 young men participated in it which took nearly ten days to complete.
KKV organises five days training camp for girls to teach Taekwondo, a Korean Martial Art. It is the simplest self defence martial art which does not need any major tool, but simple
personal belongings like umbrella, books, chappals, etc. Some ‘locks’ are also taught under this programme called “Nirbhaya,” meaning fearless.
Last year KKV’s Bharat Matha Kayika Vedi came second in the world famous Nehru Trophy Boat Race in Alappuzha. Now, the organisation is slowly but steadily bagging a space for it in the field of sports and games in Kerala. n
RSS associated organisations form PCACA to raise their voice against the CPM atrocities against Sangh workers especially after the LDF regime took over

Thiruvananthapuram: Leaders of RSS associated organisations on November 3 formed a People’s Council for Anti-CPM Atrocities (PCACA) in the wake of growing CPM atrocities against the Sangh, BJP and BMS
workers in the State, especially after the LDF regime took over under the
leadership of Pinarayi Vijayan.
Dr TN Sarasu, former principal of Victoria College, Palakkad, on the
occasion pointed out that a lady teacher belonging to a Left backed College Teachers organisation had asked an SFI student to trap her (Sarasu). She asked him to cut the vein as suicide attempt. The trap was laid on the day Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy visited Dr Sarasu. The boy was asked to cut the vein after writing a suicide note blaming the retired principal. The teacher had promised that she would do the
needful to save him from death. But, he was scared to take the risk hence did not comply. The plot was to push him to death and get a martyr for the party. SFI’s grave for the Principal was a much talked about matter those days. Organiser had carried a story on this in issue dated April 18, 2016. Dr Sarasu said the God would punish CPM for the atrocities they are doing against the people and the society.
The conclave elected a committee with former ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair, leader of SNDP and BDJS leader Thushar Vallappalli and BJP leader MT Ramesh as chairman, working chairman and general convener respectively. Leaders of various Sangh associated organisations are also the office bearers of the new body.
BJP president Kummanam Rajasekharan said the CPM does not consider the tears of the poor. They are killing the poor and Dalits. CM Pinarayi Vijayan does not take sincere steps to put an end to the killings in Kannur. CK Janoo, noted Janjati leader and president of Janathipathya Rashtreeya Sabha said CPM does not have any right to talk about
humanness. They do not teach Marxism to their rank and file, but murder politics. Kerala Congress (Thomas) leader PC Thomas said the CPM resorts to uncivilised steps to deviate attention from intellectual bankruptcy and failure in their deeds. JSS president Adv. Rajan Babu said CPM practises murder politics and other major atrocities in the manner worse than the terrorists.
RSS State executive member Shri Valsan Thillankerry said the RSS
struggle is to restore democracy. The conclusion that it is RSS-CPM clashes which takes place in Kannur will only protect the aggressors. Kannur is a place in Bharat where Sangh associated
people are ineligible to have freedom of expression, right to travel and right life. CPM acts likes feudal lords; no one can question them. An exhibition displaying the horror of CPM violence was also organised at the venue. It drew the attention of the people from different parts of the State.
RSS Prant Karyavah Shri G Gopalankutty Master said the new organisation would organise
campaigns to expose the CPM’s
political violence. Meetings will be conducted in Panchayats and booth levels from November 10 to 20. Public meetings will be held at district
centres from November 20 to 30. House contacts and distribution of pamphlets and booklets on CPM
atrocities would also be conducted from December 1 to 10. On top of all, video CDs speaking out the CPM’s murder politics in Kannur will be played in major centres of Kerala.
New Delhi: Nation paid rich tribute to the gaurakshaks who were martyred while demonstrating outside Parliament House in Delhi on November 7, 1966 seeking ban on cow slaughter. Addressing a function in New Delhi on November 6, RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi said commitment of the society for cow protection is more important than enactment of any law. He said cow rearing is done for the
welfare of the entire universe not for individual gain or lose.
Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh said economic, social and
scientific aspects of cow rearing are more important than the spiritual and cultural aspects. He said the cow slaughter was banned since the Vedic age and even the Mughal rulers did not allow it. He said the scientists have proved that 80 genes found in the cows are similar to the humans. He said many states have enacted anti-cow slaughter laws following the spirit of the Directive Principals of the Constitution and cow smuggling on Bangladesh
border has been curbed. VHP general secretary Shri Champat Rai on the
occasion administered the oath of cow protection to the people gathered there.
Valmiki Sant Shri Ravi Shah Maharaj said Dalits have made many sacrifices for the protection of cows but some people are now trying to divide the society by raising questions over it. Young Gaubhakta Mohd Faiz Khan said from Prophet Mohammad to Koran everyone described the cow milk as nectar and beef as poison. Swami Vishveshwaranand, Swami Govind Dev Giri, Swami Gyananand, Swami Parmatmanand, Shri Lokesh Muni, Shri Vivek Muni and many other saints also spoke on the occasion. RSS Sahsarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal, Prant Karyavah Shri Bharatbhushan, and many VHP leaders were also present.
Jaipur: Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal organise nationwide blood donation camps every year on Hutatma Diwas to pay tribute to the karsevaks killed in Ayodhya on October 30 and November 2, 1989 in police firing ordered by then UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav. This year the camps were
organised from November 2 to 6 all over the country. More than 2,000 units of blood were donated in Jaipur Prant alone on November 5, which was also the death anniversary of the late Shri Ashok Singhal. n
Ranjnath Singh visits anti-Sikh Riot Victims Colony
New Delhi: Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh visited a 1984 anti-Sikh Riots Victim Colony at Tilak Nagar on November 2 and assured the victims all possible help. Shri Singh is the first Home Minister who visited the victims’ colony to share their pain. Rashtriya Sikh Sangat national president Sardar Gurucharn Singh Gill, national general secretary Dr Avatar Singh Shastri, national general secretary organisation Shri Avinash Jaiswal and many Sikh leaders were also present.
Jammu: Saksham, the leading organisation dedicated to the cause of visually challenged and differently-abled people, in association with Government High School at City Chowk in Jammu, organised a programme to apprise the school students of the cause and remedies of poor eye sight particularly among the children. School Principal Parvez Mohd presided over the function. State treasurer of Saksham Shri Bhuneshwar said about 4.5 million people who are visually challenged can be treated through corneal transplants. He said 60 per cent of the total 4.5 million visually challenged population, are children under 12 years of age. He said about 3,50,000 children get blind due to deficiency of Vitamin A, C and E. He stressed that 80 per cent of the blindness is avoidable through treatment or prevention. He said most children die within one year of losing their vision. He pointed out that an eye bank is coming up in the Government Medical College in Jammu for eye donors. He asked the students to take Vitamin E through green vegetables and avoid fast food. n
BMS for comprehensive policy for Beedi industry
New Delhi: Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has urged the Union Government to work out a
comprehensive policy for Beedi
industry. In a statement issued on November 4 it said while protecting the health of millions of people, the Government should have the greater responsibility of protecting the
livelihood of crores of people
depending upon Beedi industry. “We feel the Government is taking lopsided policy with regard to Beedi. The
forthcoming International Summit of COP7 for FCTC (Conference of Parties to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Controls) has also raised many apprehensions, fears and doubts among the dependents of Beedi industry,” the statement issued by BMS general secretary Shri Virjesh Upadhyaya said. The BMS stressed the need to distinguish Beedi with other tobacco products while formulating Policy in the COP 7 FCTC Summit.
India hosted Health Summit on Framework Convention on Tobacco Controls (FCTC) from November 7 to 12 in Delhi in association with the WHO. The WHO in this convention wants to bring changes in the
framework. “The BMS strongly feels that the Government of India should take a flexible approach according to the Indian conditions. More than 45 million people depend upon Beedi industry in India. Among them 9-10 million are Vanvasi women. A BMS delegation has already called on concern Ministers and officials of Labour Ministry & Health Minister on this issue and also
submitted memorandum to them appealing to protect the interest of the Beedi workers
Jammu: J&K unit of Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) organised national group song competition in Hindi and Sanskrit at Abhinav Theater. The chief guest on the occasion was Dy Chief Minister of the State Dr Nirmal Singh and guest of honour was Divisional Manager Traffic Railways Shri Sudhir Kumar Singh. Dr Nirmal Singh appreciated the efforts of the BVP in inculcating the spirit of patriotism among young minds and love for the country. BVP national vice president Shri SK Wadhva said there are more than 1,200 branches of BVP with one lakh members. There were three teams for Hindi and Sanskrit songs. In both the categories, the first, second and third positions were grabbed by the teams of Jain School, KC International and Doon School respectively. The teams were presented with mementos and certificates.
