Two books, Himalaya Par Lal Chhaya and If Autumn Comes written by Shri Shanta Kumar and his wife Smt Santosh Shailja respectively, were released at the Dalai Lama Temple of McLeod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh on November 1 by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The books have been published by Prabhat Prakashan.
Addressing the gathering the Dalai Lama said the books
provide an opportunity to learn a lesson from the past
incidents, which hurt the humanity. He said about 20 crore people lost their lives in the world during the last century due to unrest. There is still clash between many countries due to those incidents. He stressed the need to ensure non-violence in the 21st century. He said the 20th century witnessed only materialistic progress but unbearable atrocities were
perpetuated on lakhs of people, which created unrest in the entire Asia including Tibet. “We must work to ensure that the 21st century is the century of non-violence,” he added.
Shri Shanta Kumar described the forced migration of Tibetans from Tibet as the greatest tragedy of the last
century. Another book, Sahityasevi Rajneta Shanta Kumar written by Dr Hemraj Kaushik and published by Kitabghar Prakashan, was also released by the Dalai Lama.

Population Control must to Curb Religious Imbalance

Surender Singhal

Deoband:
A Hindu Jan Sansad was organised at Miragpur Village of Saharanpur District on October 23 to press upon the demand to enact a population control law to curb the burgeoning religious imbalance in the country. The Sansad was attended by people of all Hindu sects and castes. Union Minister of State for MSME Giriraj Singh while advocating the demand for enactment of such a law termed it necessary for the identity of both Bharat and democracy. He said he would not sit silent on the issues pertaining to the Hindu society. About the issue of triple talaq he questioned the following of Sharia Law by Muslims in religious matters and IPC in criminal matters. “If they feel that Sharia Law is so important, they should follow this only in both the religious and criminal matters,” he said adding that the problem can be solved when there are equal laws in the country. The Minister also expressed grave concern over the declining population of Hindus and said it could emerge as a major threat to the existence of the Hindu society. He said the growth of Muslim population is so fast that the religious balance of many districts in Western Uttar Pradesh has been seriously disturbed and Hindus are being forced to flee from there.
Yogacharya Dr Varunveer, State executive member of the BJP, appealed to the people to unite as Hindus and stop dividing the society in the name of castes and communities. He said if the Muslim population in Western UP continues to grow on the same pace the region would be no different from that of J&K. National convener of Akhil Bharatiya Sant Parishad Swami Narsinghanand Saraswati said similar Sansad would be organised on the same issue at other places. Shri Rajiv Gumber, MLA from Saharanpur, said terrorism took an ugly form where the Hindu population declined.
