Challenge of imbalance in the population growth rate

Steps taken to control the population of the country have yielded adequate results during the last decade. But in this regard, the Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal is of the opinion that the severe demographic changes brought forth by the analysis of the religion data of Census 2011 highlights the necessity of the review of population policy. Vast differences in growth rates of different religious groups, infiltration and conversion resulting in religious imbalance of the population-ratio, especially in border areas may emerge as a threat to the unity, integrity and cultural identity of the country.   
Although Bharat was one of the early countries in the world to announce as early as in 1952 that it will have population planning measures, it was only in year 2000 that a comprehensive population policy was formulated and a population commission was formed. The policy aimed at achieving a stable but healthy population by the year 2045 by optimising the fertility rate to the ideal figure of 2.1 Total Fertility Rate [TFR]. It was expected that as this aim is in accordance with our national resources and expected future requirements, it will be uniformly applied to all the sections of society. However, the National Fertility and Health Survey [NFHS] of 2005-6 and the 0-6 age group population percentage data of religion in Census 2011, both indicate that the TFR and child ratio is uneven across the religions. This is reflected in the fact that the share of population of religions of Bharatiya origin which was 88 per cent has come down to 83.8
per cent while the Muslim population which was 9.8 per cent has increased to 14.23 per cent during the period 1951-2011.
In addition to that, the rate of growth of Muslim population has been very high than national average, in the border districts of border States of the country like Assam, West Bengal and Bihar, clearly indicating the unabated infiltration from Bangladesh. The Report of the Upamanyu Hazarika Commission appointed by Hon Supreme Court and several judicial pronouncements from time to time have also corroborated these facts. It is also a fact that the infiltrators are usurping the rights of citizens of these states and are becoming a heavy burden on the already scant resources apart from creating socio-cultural, political and economic tensions. The religious imbalance of population in the North- Eastern states has assumed serious proportions. In Arunachal Pradesh, the people of religions of Bharatiya origin were 99.21 per cent in 1951. It came down to 81.3 per cent in 2001 and to 67 per cent in 2011. In just one decade the Christian population of Arunachal Pradesh has grown by almost 13 percentage points. Similarly, in the population of Manipur, this share of religions of Bharatiya origin which was more than 80 per cent in 1951 has come down to 50 per cent in 2011. These examples and pointers of unnatural growth of Christian population in many districts of the nation indicate an organised and targeted religious conversion activity by some vested interests.
The Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal expresses deep concern over all these severe demographic imbalances and urges the Government to :

1. Reformulate the National Population Policy keeping in view availability of resources in the country, future needs and the problem of demographic imbalance and apply the same uniformly to all.
2. Totally curb the illegal infiltration from across the border.  Prepare a National Register of Citizens and prevent these infiltrators from acquiring citizenship rights and purchasing lands.  

The ABKM calls upon the countrymen including all the swayamsevaks to take the cognisance of the causes of these population changes considering it their national duty to create public awareness and take all lawful steps to save the country from this demographic imbalance.  

Tribute

At the inaugural session, the Karyakari Mandal paid tributes to the leaders, great personalities who passed away since March 2015. Some of such personalities included Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Swami Dayananda Saraswati, eminent writer Kuttamath Sricharan Master of Kerala, Prof MM Kalburgi of Karnataka, Baba Rao Puranik of Chhattisgarh, Sohan Singh of Delhi, Shankar Prasad Tambrala of Mahakoshal, Narayana Chandrarao of Kolkata, Lakshman Rao Pardikar of MP, Bindu Madhav Joshi of Grahak Panchayat, Prof GS Mudambaditt-haya, Dr Suryanatha Kamat of Bengaluru, Gouri Shankar Sharma of Manipur, Jagotri Bihari Singh of Manipur, Ram Jain of Gujarat, Narayan Bhai Desh of Gujarat, JB Patyanak of Odisha, Jagmohan Damliya of West Bengal, Swami Prasannacharya of Nepal, SM Sarala Birla of Jharkhand, Neelakanthan Pilai of Kerala, Keltron Founder KPP Nambiar, Ravindra Jain of Mumbai, Shashir Sable of Mumbai, Manorama of Tamil Nadu, Balachandra Khandarkar of Mumbai, Himani Savarkar, Keshava Gurram of Hubballi, Dr M Ramani of Chennai, Dr Rangacharyaulu of Telangana, Senior RSS Pracharaks Na Krishnappa, KS Nagabhushan Bhagwat, Chakravarti Tirumagan and few others. Nation shocked at the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib –Bhayyaji Joshi

Sarkaryavah Shri Bhayyaji Joshi said the insulting act of Sri Guru Granth Sahib which is the centre of veneration and devotion for the entire Bharatiya society shocked the countrymen. The RSS condemns this sacrilegious act in strongest terms. Sri Guru Granth Sahib is not only the Jagat Jyot (Living Soul ) – an embodiment of Guru but also a carrier of our eternal spirituality and is the cultural conscience that transcends the differences of caste, creed, way of worship, social status, sect, region and language to bring together all the Bharatiyas with a thread of oneness.
The sad incident in Bargadi Village of Faridkot District followed by series of incidents in Village Baath and Nijjharpura in Taran Taran District and at Village Ghavandi in Ludhiana District clearly point to a pre-planned conspiracy of vested interests and anti-national elements to disturb the harmonious atmosphere of Punjab. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh condemns all the above incidents and calls upon the countrymen to foil these conspiracies and strengthen the tradition of religious and social harmony of Bharat. RSS appeals to the Government of Punjab to take firm action against the miscreants involved in the above demeaning acts and also urge the Central Government to investigate and expose the perpetrators behind this conspiracy, Shri Joshi said.    

Millennium of Acharya Abhinavagupta

Kashmir, a treasure trove of philosophers has given the world innumerable intellectual gems who gave new paradigms to the whole world by virtue of their spiritual knowledge, extensive penance and self realisation. Several religions and sects have flourished in Kashmir. Existing order changed several times but that never eliminated the earlier order. Acharya Abhinavagupta is an important link in this tradition. Acharya Abhinavagupta was a great philosopher and literary critic. He was the tallest scholar of Shaiva philosophy. He was not only an exemplar preceptor of Advaita Agama and Pratyabhigya Darshan, but several streams of knowledge systems converged in him. Many schools of Bharatiya intellect and penance coalesced in his towering personality and flows ahead as a powerful stream.
The intellect of Acharya Abhinavagupta has greater acceptability as he trained and graduated himself under many foremost contemporary teachers and mentors in several schools of knowledge. He learnt grammar from his father Narsimhagupta. Likewise, Laksh-managupta was his teacher for Pratyabhigya Shashtra and Sham-bhunath of Jalandhar Peeth was his teacher for the practice of Kaul Sect.
Ancestors of Acharya Abhinava-gupta were related to renowned scholars in the the Court of Kannauj rulers. His ancestor Atrigupta had come to Srinagar at the behest of victorious king Lalitaditya Muktapeed of Kashmir. Yogini Vimalakala was his mother who died in the childhood of Achaya Abhinavagupta.
Knowledge hungry Acharya Abhinavagupta studied under 19 eminent teachers including his chief preceptor Lakshmanagupta while remaining bachelor. He shared his knowledge by scripting many books. He became a true example of
the verse Shatahaste Samahara Sahasrahaste Vikir (Acquire by 100 hands and distribute by 1,000 – giving back more to the society)
He wrote on all the aspects of Shaiva philosophy. He was the author of around 50 books. Acharya Abhinavagupta traversed way ahead of his contemporary Shaiva philosophers by writing volumes like Tantralok, Paratrinshika vivran, Parmarthsaar, Tantrassar, Geetarthsan-graha alongwith treatise on Natyashastra and Dhwanyalok. He declared sound as the ‘fourth dimension’. He did not reject the preaching and contents of Geeta but expressed them metaphorically. It was also acceptable to him if one saw Lord Shiva in the form of Sri Krishna. He presented Kaurav- Pandav war as conflict of Vidya vs Avidya (Spiritual vs Worldly). In the last days of Acharya Abhinavagupta, his followers used to see him as mantrasiddha sadhak (Disciple who mastered the mantras – hymns) and incarnation of Lord Bhairav.
Around the age of 70, he and his disciples entered a cave in Beerawa village in Badgam district near Srinagar chanting the hymns of Lord Shiva. He immersed himself with Lord Shiva on January 4, 1016.
The cave exists even today and is known as Bhairav Gufa. It would be a true homage to Acharya Abhinava-gupta to enlighten the whole world, especially the youth of Kashmir with the life and deeds of this legend who interpreted the ancient spiritual and cultural heritage of Kashmir in a new unifying philosophy with the challenges of times; in this era of ideological fanaticism.   

RSS is not a ‘punching bag’ for pseudo-secularists: Dattatreya Hosabale

Calling the award returning writers, academicians, artists and historians as frustrated, pseudo-secular, desperate, politically motivated and patients of selective amnesia, RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale said the RSS is no more a punching bag.
“We have unblemished 90 years record of selfless service and now they brand us as intolerant…they don’t know social tolerance is the soul of RSS ideology. RSS has become a punching bag for the people who always remained intolerant towards RSS and anything with its roots in Hindu ideology. They have exhibited their intolerance towards RSS from academic institutions to public and political life. All their fingers stop at the RSS and the Modi government,” he said.  
Shri Hosabale said, “They are desperate because they are losing ground and credibility among people. Their pseudo-secularism and hidden political agenda have been unmasked. They are worried over the RSS gaining people’s confidence. History of contemporary India is flooded with many a told and untold cases of intolerance. May I know why and where these writers were resting then? Aren’t they are a part of gang of a particular political school?”
RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya alleged the Hindu society is being projected as intolerant. He said it is a part of the conspiracy to discourage nationalist forces. “It is Prime Minister’s prerogative to speak on the issues he wishes to. But I want to know who is ruling Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
