News Round-up: Sarsanghachalak plants saplings near Eknathji samadhi
RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat visited the samadhi of Eknath Ranadeji, the Sangh veteran who pioneered the construction of Swami Vivekandanda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari. Shri Bhagwat planted two saplings, Senbak and Naval, near the samadhi on May 21. He also visited Dakshin Kshetra (which includes Kerala and Tamil Nadu states) second year Sangh Shiksha Varg in Kanyakumari. Dakshin Kshetra Sanghachalak Dr Vanniyarajan, Kshetra Pracharak Shri Sthanumaalayan, Kshetra Sewa Pramukh Shri Padmakumar and Shri Kesava Vinayakam were also present.
On May 20, Kshetra level Dwiteeya and Dakshin Tamil Nadu’s first year Sangh Shiksha Vargs concluded in Kanyakumari. Shri Chaitanyandaji Maharaj, Vellimalai Vivekananda Ashram, blessed the gathering. Shri A Bhagavathiyappan Pillai, Retd. TNEB Chief Engineer also spoke. Shri G Ramesh, Thoothukudi Vivekam Travels, was also present. Dakshin Kshetra Pracharak Shri G Sthanumaalayanji highlighted the importance of the Shakha and said that as ‘one should not live in a village without temple’ equally one should not live in a place without the Shakha. Nearly 2,000, people participated in the function. Shri V Selvaraj, Pondy Vibhag Sanghachalak was the Sarvadhikari for the Varg. Kalyan Ashram Hostel in Mangaluru
First one in Coastal Mangaluru area and 6th in Karnataka State, a new hostel exclusively for Vanvasi students by the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram was inaugurated on May 25. Shri Kajampady Subramanya Bhat, national convener of Parivar Prabodhan, inaugurated the hostel, which is located at Adkar near Sullia on Mangaluru–Mysuru Highway. The hostel building was dedicated to Kalyan Ashram by Lalita-Ganapati Memorial Trust which is headed by Bengaluru based Company Secretary Ramesh Bhat. In Karnataka, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram has activities in 10 districts and 21 taluks. Sangh Pracharak Prakash Kamath, Sridhar Sagar, Da Ma Ravindra, Sripada, KS Nagabhushan, RSS leaders Gopal Chettiyar, Na Seetharam, Satyakeerthi Radhakrishna of VKA, local MLA Angara, family members of Ramesh Bhat were also present. Sevika Samiti camp in Chennai
A 15-day personality development camp of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, Uttar Tamil Nadu unit concluded on May 18 at Ambattur. Uniform clad sevikas marched to the drum beats along the main streets of Ambattur. They demonstrated yoga, karate, danda, etc. Smt Gomathi Naveen, Upakshetra Karyavahika, spoke about the Samiti activities. Shri Narayana Swamy, Trustee, Anandam Old Age Home, presided over the function. Smt Radha Chandramouli, Prant Karyavahika, welcomed the gathering. PMJF Lion Shri KSBabai BE, Principal of Meenakshi Sundarrajan Engineering College was the Chief Guest. She stressed the need of education and holistic development for girls. She hoped that the girls and women would not waste their precious time watching aimless television serials. Smt Latha Rajan, Upakshetra Sah Karyavahika appealed to everybody to realise their individual and social responsibilities and to contribute selflessly towards revitalising Bharat. Women and girls have to protect themselves and must be aware of the negative and detrimental forces, she said. n
Treat Ganga as mother
Over 100 senior saints assembled at Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal meeting of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Haridwar from May 25-26. They called upon the countrymen to treat
River Ganga as mother and do not pullute her ghats as well as water at any cost. In a resolution passed at the meeting the saints stressed the need that the flow of Ganga must be ensured at every ghat and pilgrimage place. The saints expressed grave concern over the increasing pollution through the activities like river rafting in the holy river. The saints said thousands of boys and girls joining river rafting and do obscene acts, consume alcohol and throw garbage in the Ganga everyday from Vyasi to Lakshmanjhula in Rishikesh. Demanding immediate curb on such activities the saints said it is wrong to say that Ganga is polluted more by puja material. The saints applauded the Namami Gange scheme by the government but said the River cannot be cleaned without ensuring her free flow.
In another resolution on White Revolution and development of farmers and villages saints said it is impossible without the protection and support of the government. Saints called upon, Kathavachaks and workers of various social and cultural organisations to educate the society about the importance of the govansh. They applauded the Governments of Maharashtra and Haryana for enacting the law banning cow slaughter. About Sri Ram Temple in Ayodhya saints said they would discuss the issue by meeting the Central Government. n
Chakravarti Tirumagan passes away
Senior Sangh Pracharak Chakravarti Tirumagan passed away at Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru on May 22. He was 68. He was holding the responsibility of zonal organising secretary of Sanskar Bharati. He was Pracharak for the last 50 years. Senior Sangh adhikaris including Sahsarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale, Shri Mangesh Bhende, Shri CR Mukunda, Shri J Nandakumar, Shri Mai Cha Jayadev, Shri V Nagaraj etc paid tribute. Born in 1947, Tirumaganji became a Pracharak in 1965. He served as Taluk Pracharak in Mandya, Kunigal and in many other areas in the initial years. He was given the responsibility of Sanskar Bharati in Karnataka, when the organisation was established for the first time in the State. He started new projects like HARATE, a special intellectual on-stage talk show, CHITRA-KAVYA, a special stage show where simultaneous poem composition and an art piece is drawn on the basis of the theme of the poem. n
Good days are ahead for workers: Bandaru Dattatreya
Thirty third triennial conference of Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh was held in Ghaziabad from May 23 to 24. About 500 delegates from across the State attended the meeting prominently guided by national organising secretary Shri Krishna Chandra Mishra, national deputy organising secretary Shri B Surendran, national vice president Shri Kailash Nath Sharma, national secretaries Shri Sukhdev Prasad Mishra, Shri Jayanti Lalji and Shri Devendra Kumar Pandey. Conference’s total arrangement was done by zonal organising secretary Shri Pawan Kumar. Inaugurating the Conference Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatrey said good days for workers are about to come as the government is shortly going to announce many welfare schemes for them. He said there are efforts to curb migration of both the workers and industries. He also stressed the need to provide permanent shelter to Bidi workers. Shri KC Mishra raised various issues concerning the workers. He stressed the need to launch special campaign to extend the benefit of various schemes for the workers. —Organiser Bureau
