Intro: In the severe case of a 14-year old raped by Muslim youths in Karnataka, Congress Government of the State have accused innocent Hindus who were protesting on streets.

The sensational issue of rape and mysterious death of a 14 year-old girl Nandita Poojari from Thirthahalli Town in Shivamogga District in Karnataka, has become a burning issue in Karnataka.
Congress government is pro-Muslim as it is protecting rapists and harassing Hindus who are fighting for justice, said KS Eashwarappa, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council and former Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka.
Addressing the media on November 7, he further added, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and many other organisations are protesting all over the State demanding the arrest of three Muslim youths who allegedly abducted and raped Nandita, Congress Government is arresting Hindus who are protesting on streets, seeking justice.
Out of frustration, he made a statement. “Though I do not want it to happen, Chief Minister and Home Minister can realise the gravity of the situation only when the daughter of CM or daughter of HM will be raped by someone,” said KS Eshwarappa. Only when the pressure from the society and media became unbearable, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah referred the case to the CID.
BJP wants CBI probe
Participating in a candle light protest on November 6, against failure of Siddaramaiah Government in arresting youths involved in the crime, R Ashok, BJP leader and former Deputy CM who handled Home Department, said, BJP demands that the case be handedover to CBI, for fair investigation.

       Case History

  • Nandita left her house situated in Venkateshwara Colony in Thirthahalli town on October 29, walks for 10 minutes and reaches a bus stop on Agumbe-Thirthahalli route, to go to her school.
  •  She reached Thirthahalli town bus stand in a private bus along with her relatives and friends.
  • Within few minutes, near Dwarka Hotel three Muslim youths in a Maruti Red Colour Omni Van called her by name.
  • She was immediately dragged into and was taken to deserted Anandagiri Hills in Tuduki Village. Later culprits left her down from the height of 10 feet.
  • On October 30, she was admitted in McGann Hospital in Shivamogga.
  • On October 31, Nandita died in Manipal Hospital and entire Thirthahalli and Udupi boils over inhuman act of Muslim youths.

“CID can hush-up the case and give a report favouring Congress Government. It is already seven days are over and it is evident that police is not in a mood to arrest the culprits. Theerthahalli is a small town where arresting three youths is not a big task. Everyone in that town knows who abducted and raped Nandita, but police is busy trying to create new theories to fool public. Owing to injustice done to public, Home Minister should resign,” said R Ashok. Shobha Karandlaje, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha said, the death note created by police to twist the issue has backfired them as Nandita never used to write in red colour pen.
She also objected to primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Rathnakar, who also represents Thirthahalli constituency, taking an oath in front of local deity to prove his innocence in shielding the culprits and invoking divine punishment for BJP leaders who are accusing him of protecting Muslim youths from being arrested.
Karnataka Government never take these incidences seriously and that is why there is an increase in such cases. However, this time there was heavy protest from the general public which led to interruption in daily life of people.
