BHOPAL: Society should be governed by the values and ethos than by laws said All India Prachar Pramukh of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Dr Manmohan Vaidya in a two-day Media Workshop jointly organised by Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad and Makhanlal Chaturvedi University on July 24.
More legal framework does not make the state better. The society should organise itself in such a manner that it should not remain dependent on the state for all things, he added.
The workshop organised on the theme of “Ideology and Media: Challenges and Opportunities” was attended by advocates drawn from various parts of the country.
Dr Vaidya held the media responsible for spreading rumors of RSS controlling the BJP and trying to push through it, its hidden agenda which was far from the truth. We need to break the false image created by the media by using the strength which is using its strength in doing this. Media is a communication channel and it should be used to promote national interests, he added.
Common Civil Code, Article 370 not related to Hindutva: Dr Vaidya clarified that Common Civil Code and Article 370 were issues related to the statecraft and nation and not in the Hindutva agenda. Hindutva cannot be narrow and parochial he said adding that it was a lifestyle. He added that the media has maligned the image of RSS as a narrow, parochial organisation which is far from the truth.
A panel discussion on ‘Media Trial’ and “Women’s Rights’ was held during the second day of the workshop which was participated by experts like K G Suresh, Rakesh Khare, and Lajpat Ahuja. Senior journalist Brajesh Rajput and M Ramamurthy spoke on communicating with media. Earlier inaugurating the workshop MCU Vice Chancellor Prof BK Kuthiala described as good omen the communication between media and advocates. He said the media and judiciary were the two important pillars but there was no proper communication between the two. This lacunae was fulfilled by this workshop, he added. Prof Kuthiala further said that understanding media as a product and watchdog underrated the strength of the media.
This was due to business houses that control the media, invest in it with an intention of earning profits. He called for social investment in media to keep it free from all such bondages.
The two-day workshop was addressed by senior journalists and others including senior RSS Pracharak Nandkumar, senior journalist Sanjay Sharma, Alok Verma, Gyanant Singh, Girish Upadhyay, Sanjay Dwivedi and Supreme Court advocate Jyotika Kalra. —Bureau Report?
