In central India, the Bharatiya Janata Party has registered a vibrant victory by winning 76 seats out of total 82 (Haryana, 7; Rajasthan, 25; Madhya Pradesh, 27; Chhattisgarh, 11 and Delhi, 7seats). In Haryana, BJP won seven seats. BJP decimated Congress in Delhi as it registered landslide victory by winning all the seven constituencies whereas AAP in comparison to its splendid performance in the Assembly elections, 2013.
Major upsets
Aam Aadmi party leader Yogendra Yadav lost his seat from Gurgaon, and Congress MP, Naveen Jindal also faced defeat in Kurukshetra.
Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit said before the results that a win is unlikely in a state of profuse anti-incumbency. There is a lot anti-incumbency and that there are slight chances of a win. The anti-incumbency wave could easily be witnessed in Delhi elections last year.
